Here's an interview on franchise mode. A couple of interesting points:
  • No contract extensions (meaning you cannot renegotiate with a guy with more than one year remaining).
  • No restricted free agents
  • Improved free agency (most of the top free agents will sign in the first week so you are not held hostage and have to keep upping your bid for mutiple guys at the same position every week hoping to get one of them).

Here is an interview with one of the designers. Some good stuff in here. Audio only with just some screenshots so you can watch while driving or working.
  • No custom draft classes but they are working on it
  • Commentary will talk about big decisions and injuries
  • Game planning gives XP to entire team, not just one player

Here is another interview on Press Row Podcast. The same guy, John White, but covers things from a slightly different angle.
  • Game plan drills carry over from week to week. The game remembers your medal (gold, silver or bronze) and you can apply that to the next week vs replaying the same drill every week.
  • Game plan can be play specific, concept specific (attack Cover 2) or position group specific
  • In-game injuries should be similar to sim injuries. They have been tuning injuries to be more realistic.
  • On-screen graphics that show how well the team is doing with and without an injured player.
  • Completed games in CFM will unveil on the ticker as if they are being played live pulling data from the actual played game.
  • Transaction log will show anything that the commissioner edits

Great interview from simfballcritic with Rex Dickson. They only cover a few topics but they are really good ones.
  • No defensive match ups this year. The base that Madden is built on with flipping plays and motion and everything else prevents them from implementing it effectively.
  • Adaptive AI is here as the CPU will learn your tendencies and call plays to stop what you do most. You have to scheme this year and mix up what you do.
  • No individual AI where players jump routes that you call too much. It's the users job to call the right play and put their players in the right position to stop what's coming.
  • Ball physics and sack fumbles. Possession catch is critical in traffic. The ball can and will pop out if not secured properly if it gets hit by an hand, arm, helmet, etc.
  • Madden will come to Frostbite engine eventually. They have a plan and do not expect to see the typical strip out features and barebones gameplay that typically comes with a switch to a new core.
  • Continuous development will continue. Expect to see new small features or possibly even new game modes like Draft Champions Ranked and MUT Salary Cap continue to be worked on and pushed out and improved through the year.

A lot of great new things. One thing I would really like to see an I think would be huge in CFM, would be the chance to take your CFM from one madden to the next. So this way youd be able to actually have a full career with guys you drafted. Really seems like a great first step towards turning Madden into a "Sim" game. All this is fine an dandy, lets see for ourseleves in 2 months.

Only listened to the first interview up to this point ... Very excited

Love the game plan idea along w the reward of gold, silver, bronze based on how u performed

Practice team players can get called up to fill in roster spots for those injured ... Makes the game more interesting ... Curious how many players on a practice squad

Injuries can linger which will lead to some big decisions ... True to life

Should see a list of weekly inactives ... Nice touch again to details

Disappointed draft classes aren't customizable yet but I believe they are on the cusp

Commish edits are huge ... Funny that they thought it out to show the commish edits in transactions to uphold league integrity

Physics helps dictate injuries ... So body placement of where u as a tackler hit ur opponent could impact whether ur opponent gets hurt ... Anyone head hunting? Lol

I don't believe you can set the weekly Inactives

The inactive a would be those who are inured and not playing. Some of those you will have decisions over. Don't have a 46-man active roster or whatever the real life limit is. Not sure I care if we get that but it would add more to games and immersion. Gotta be smart with who you play.

Some franchise focus info from shopmaster ... My takeaways listed below:

- when making injury decisions, it actually shows what his ovr rating and stamina will drop to if u attempt to play through it
- coaches will recommend player cuts during offseason ... Very handy
- in season contract negotiations will be discussed in commentary
- when chasing free agents in offseason they will now have a point system that shows how close you are to other teams ... In the past we have no idea how close we are in the actual bidding process
