Week 13: Titans @ Chargers

Titans rebounded this week after a tough loss to the Jags. Titans offense racked up a total of 339 yards. They did this both passing(166 yards) and running the ball(173 yards). It was the titans defense that really showed up however. Only giving up 10 points and 136 total yards. The Chargers were held under a 100 yards passing. Starting QB Kizer was knocked out of the game with an injury for the Chargers.

Week 12 - Texans at Ravens
Ravens score a whopping 29 pts in the 4th qtr to tie it up with the Texans only to lose out by a FG in OT - Texans dominated Ravens star running back Laveon Bell by holding him to 16 attempts for 2 total yards - Osweiler stays hot as he goes 22 for 31 w 447 yds passing and 5 TDs w 3 INTs

Osweiler 22 - 31 447 yds 5 TDs 3 INTs
L. Miller 14 for 28 yds
Hopkins 5 cth 130 yds 1 TD
Fuller 7 cth 161 yds 2 TDs
Allen 3 cth 90 yds 1 TD

Hal and Watt led team with 6 tackles each while Mercilus recorded a team high 2 sacks

Week 13 - Texans at Panthers

Second week in a row that the Texans play an overtime game - A back n forth tilt thru the first 3 qtrs that no one seemed to want to win - Texans get the ball in OT and Lamar Miller fumbles it away at mid field - Panthers take over and need to get in FG range just to pull off the upset ... sounds simple right? JJ Watt finds his way into the backfield and drop Newton for his 4th and what would be his last sack of the game ultimately forcing the Panthers to punt the ball away ... Texans squander yet another opportunity and punt the ball to the Ravens 11 yd line ... Panthers decide to take their sweet time in what would be the last drive of the game ... end up at the Texans 35 yd line at which point Coach O Brien calls a TO to ice the kicker ... Dustin Hopkins would kick the ball off the crossbar as the ball bounces back to the endzone resulting in a tie ball game for the Panthers and Texans

Osweiler 22 - 36 354 yds 3 TDs 2 INTs
L. Miller 17 for 66 yds
Fuller 8 cth 160 yds 2 TDs
Allen 4 cth 71 yds

Week 13
Ravens @ Jets

The Jets came out to a stinker of a performance in this game, as the offense only had a total of 192 total yards from scrimmage. Seth Russell looked horrific, a very out of character game for him. If there's any story in this game, it was the defense, as they saw the most snaps on the field this year and tried their best to keep the Jets in the game. They forced 3 turnovers, one going for a pick 6 and intercepted second year superstar Lamar Jackson 3 times. Unfortunately, Lamar Jackson surged right through that and didn't let it hurt him leading his team to a huge victory. Jets fall for only the second time this year, 33-26 to the playoff bubble Ravens to bring their record to 10-2.

"Key" Performers:

  • Seth Russell: 15/32 154 yards 0 tds 2 ints 35.1 QBR 6 carries 40 yards

Week 14
Jets@Bengals

Jets came into a pivotal game against the Bengals and looked to reestablish the offense that lead them to such a great record, and to many fan's surprise it was not the big names who did it. Terron Ward and Cameron Artis-Payne both broke some massive runs and helped a team struggling to move the ball go up and down the field after the first half. The Bengals did a great job of moving the ball on a difficult defense but couldn't finish drives and only scored twice on the afternoon. Jets come away with the 31-13 win over the hometown Bengals to see their AFC conference lead grow to 11-2.

Key Performers:

  • Seth Russell: 12/22 182 yards 3 tds 1 int

Week 15
Jets@Cowboys

This game left a lot to be desired by the Jets on both sides of the ball. Uncharacteristically the Jets defense gave up 398 yards of offense but did only allow 16 points to a strong Cowboys team. The Cowboys held the ball for what seemed like the entire game, nearly gassing the impressive defense of the Jets. Seth Russell was a train wreck and didn't look like a QB poised for a deep run into the playoffs. The run game equally disappointing. All in all, the team made the plays down the stretch that it needed, in large part due to the play of the defense, especially in overtime. With game quickly looking over, the two defensive leaders of this team came up huge. The Cowboys had gotten the ball into Jet territory when Darron Lee came up with a massive strip and Calvin Pryor III scooped the ball up and returned it 78 yards for the walk off TD. Jets win messy game in overtime 22-16 and improve to 12-2.

Key Performers:

  • Seth Russell: 15/25 241 yards 0 tds 2 ints 3 carries 49 yards

Week 16
Jets@Bills

The Jets came out strong against the rival Buffalo Bills and never really struggled. The team cruised to a 20-3 lead thanks to 2 tds from Seth Russell. And that's when it happened. Jets fans saw their dreams of a Super Bowl possibly slashed when Seth Russell rolled right on a play that had no impact on the outcome of the game, get gang sacked and rupture a disk in his back. Clamoring for a declaration, the media grilled Coach Dishman after the game asking what the future held. Russell out for the season, including the playoffs. When asked about rookie Peyton Otten, Dishman held firm "Otten was not a pick by this coaching staff, he was picked by upper management. And while Peyton is a great kid with some talent, he has not picked up our system and has not show any improvement over the year. Trevone Boykin is our guy the rest of the year." The media and talk show personalities have been lighting up Dishman for his decision and the voices will only get louder closer to the playoffs. Jets win, but lose offensive leader Seth Russell 23-3, moving to 13-2.
