World Champions: A season Preview of New England Patriots

Overview: The New England Patriots are fresh of a Super Bowl winning campaign that saw them rise from the ashes after many pundits declared that both Tom Brady and the Patriots Dynasty was over. They took on the team that was trying to dethrone them as the next dynasty; the mighty Seattle Seahawks. While the offseason has been filled with headlines about the 4 game suspension that Dictator Goddell gave to Brady, the team is ready to get back to football.

Owner: Robert Kraft decided to sell his team in the offseason and retire on top of the world. After being betrayed by the National Football League his love for the game disappeared. New owner Daz WatSheSaid, more commonly known as Daz is eager to continue the winning ways of the patriots. Mr. Daz will take a hands on approach in all day to day football operations and he will essentially be the General Manager for the team. In a recent interview Mr. Daz said that he intends to build through the draft and he is fascinated by the approaches that Chip Kelly and Pete Carroll have taken to build their current teams. Speed, Size, and Athleticism are what we can expect from future Patriot Players.

Coach: The great BB decided to follow in Kraft's footsteps and retire from the NFL. Not much is known about his whereabouts and day to day activities. Interim Head Coach Josh McDaniels will coach the team for this upcoming season, hoping to secure the job full-time for many seasons to come. With Tom Brady at the helm McDaniels will have every opportunity to retain a Top 5 offense.

Quarterbacks: The Patriots enter the season with a great QB tandem. Whenever Tom Brady is cleared to play the offense will continue to hum along smoothly. It is well known that Mr. Daz's favorite player is Brady, so it should come to no surprise that he is 100% behind Brady. Jimmy G on the other hand is a different story. He is a good young player, but Mr. Daz would rather have him sit for a couple more years before thrusting him into the fire.

Running Backs: While it seems like you can plug and play any running back in New England and expect success, Mr. Daz is not impressed with the current group. Blount has shown to be a little more than a plodder, but other than him the Patriots lack a true playmaker at the position with Bolden, White, and Gray rounding out the corps. After watching the Steelers and Packers, Daz believes that it is possible to field a superstar running back with a franchise Quarterback.

Receivers: When taking a look at the wide receiver position you have to start with Julian Edelman whom Daz is a huge fan of. Edelman is expected to get most of the looks this season especially if Jimmy G gets the start for the beginning of the season. After Edelman there is a lackluster group that features Danny Amendola, Brandon Lafell, and Aaron Dobson. Gronkowski is the saving grace of this unit as he will look to continue his dominance as the best tight end in the league.

Offensive Line: Mr. Daz is pleased by the starting group that features tackles Nate Solder and Sebastian Bollmer. However he was quoted as saying that he wants the inside of the line upgraded to facilitate the teams new running scheme which McDaniels has said he would like to install a zone blocking scheme.

Defensive Line: Daz could not be happier with young star Chandler Jones, as well as the veteran Rob Nincovich. He is also pleased with new seson addition of Jabal Sheard. McDaniel is said to be preferring the 4-3 defense after years of running a hybrid defense. Rookie Malcolm Brown, and second year player Dominique Easley have big shoes to fill after the departure of Vince Wilfork.

Linebackers: The best unit of the team might be the three starting linebacker who will be essential for the 4-3 defense the Patriots plan to run. Jarod Mayo will anchor the middle, while Superstar Jamie Collins and Donta Hightower play on the left and right sides. Depth will become an issue if any injuries amount during the season, but Daz is more than pleased with the starters.

Secondary: Daz has been quoted as saying that he believes he has "One of the best safety tandems in the league". Former Cornerback Devon McCourtey and Pat Chung make up that very talented tandem. The new owner is very concerned about the cornerback position. He sees essentially a very short cornerback group who is not exceptionally fast. Logan Ryan is the lone standout of the group. Malcolm Butler still has to prove himself to earn a starting job. Daz sees the lack of height as a problem as he likes the model that Seattle used to build their secondary.

Special Teams: With a kicker like Gostkowski the team is in very good shape. Ryan Allen returns as the teams punter. Onwership is concerned about the return game as they do not want to expose Edelman to big hits, and they don't believe they have a quality returner after him on the roster.

Final Thoughts: It is no surprise that the Patriots should be ready to compete for this years title. They still field one of the most talented rosters on both sides of the ball. The key will lie along the teams new defensive front in the 4-3. On offense McDaniels will shift to more of a spread look with a zone blocking scheme to counteract for the lack of playmakers on the wide receivers core. McDaniels hopes that with this shift in schemes Jimmy G will be able to be successful if called upon.

Trade Block: Ownership is open to listening to any trade offers for any players on the team that exclude
; Brady, Edelman, Gronk, McCourtey, Collins, Jones, Solder, Hightower, Chung, and Ryan.

We are currently looking for Prototypical Corners as well as One Cut type of running backs, and some young receivers.
