We are getting close to the end of the regular season. Teams are still playing for playoff spots and these players had big performances for their teams.
QB - Paxton Lynch - Broncos
Well the Broncos are no where near playoff contention, but they have to be happy with how their rookie QB from Memphis played this week. Lynch torched the Titans. He finished 24-39, for 390 yards, and 2 TD. And for one of the first times all year, he didn't throw an interception. He has 23 on the year. If Lynch can play like this more often, next season could be a good year for the Broncos.
RB - Robert Turbin - Colts
Turbin was an absolute monster this week. The Texans had no answer for him. He ran for 202 yards on 27 carries and 1 TD. 113 of his yards came after contact. And he had a long rush of 85 yards. He also caught 4 passes for 28 yards. Turbin looks to be the lead back for the Colts moving forward. He only has 138 carries on the season, but with Frank Gore's age, Turbin might be the featured back next season for the Colts. Especially if he keeps playing like he did this week.
WR - DeAndre Hopkins - Texans
It hasn't been a great season for the Texans. Which is easy to see with their 5-8 record. But Hopkins is still having a great season. He had another big game this week. He hauled in 7 passes for 195 yards and 1 TD. Hopkins is #2 on the best WR award list. And you can see why with games like this one. He now has 64 catches on the year. He went over 1,100 yards and collected his 4th TD of the the season. He and rookie Fuller look to be a dangerous duo for years to come for this Texans team.
Defense - Paul Posluszny -Jags
Posluszny made some big plays late in this game to steal away a win for his team. He finished with 7 tackles and 1TFL. He also forced an Adrian Peterson fumble that led to a score. Then on the next drive, with under 2 minutes remaining, he picked off a Bridgwater pass and housed it. Two huge plays, late in the game to help the Jags get a big win over the Vikings. The veteran Posluszny hasn't been great this year, but he stepped up this week.
Other Top Players
QB - Carson Palmer - 25-42, 398 yards, 2TDS, 0 int's
RB - Demarco Murray - 16 carries, 200 yards, 2TDS
WR - John Brown - 6 catches, 144 yards, 1 TD
Defense - Aaron Donald - 8 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sk, 1 FF
If anyone has a player that they think might make the player of the week list, and can give some context to their stats (game changing plays) I can add that into the top player report. If they have the stats to make the list though! PM me on slack if so.
