Q: Tough Loss. You guys had control of the game early, then gave up some big runs plays. Then the interceptions is what killed your chances of pulling out a win. What is your overall assessment of the game ?

Coach: Falcons are an explosive team, on both sides of the ball. We definitely need to work on run defense. We did a good job of containing their passing game. Bridgewater did make some bad decisions on offense that turned into points for them and ultimately killed our ability to maintain our lead. Last quarter Falcons did a good job of shutting down our offense.

Q: Was it the pressure that got to Bridgewater?

Coach: Our offensive line is a little underpowered and because of that we try and run plays that help put Bridgewater. However, these interceptions were more of bad reads and off target throws on Bridgewaters part. In the big throw to Wallace, he has a powerful throwing arm, and instead of sending it over the top like he should and let Wallace get it he tries to power it in and gets picked. The short pass to Wright, he misjudges Collins speed and he gets underneath and gets a pick 6. These are things we got to work on. In the heat of the game he feels he needs to make it happen. He takes full responsibility for these plays and its something we will continue to work on.

Q: At the end of the first half, the Falcons had a nice drive and merely seconds on the clock, got a huge Pass Interference call on Smith setting them outside the 1 yard line of the endzone. Defense made a big stand and stopped them from scoring. What did you tell your Defense ?

Coach:
Really that was on them. I think they were so upset with the pass interference call that fueled them to make that stop. After trying to pass, we were hoping they attempted a run and we were ready for it.

Q: If the defense is able to make big stops like that, why could they not do a better job of stopping the big run plays in the second half?

Coach: They have a good running offense and they never let up on it and it paid off for them in the end. I think for the most part of the game the run defense was decent. They only had 2 big run plays, which was 2 too many. We'll review the game and see where we went wrong in our coverage.

Q: The game was exciting to watch, of course the Vikings fans would like to see finishes in their favor. This seems to be an ongoing issue of not being able to close the deal. Do you have any thoughts on how you can change that situation?

Coach: It comes down to players stepping up in these clutch situations. We've been reviewing our games and trying different approaches. We will continue to do this and make adjustments. We realize we are a work in progress and we just hope the fans can continue to support us and give us a chance to change things around.
