Vikings officially say goodbye to AP

The season opener is in the books and the Vikings can finally move on from the post Peterson era. Adrian Peterson made his debut yesterday in Minneapolis but this time it was on the opposite sideline. While amassing 11,747 yards and over 100 TDs in his career with the Vikings, AP couldn't replicate what he had done so often, for so long in his illustrious career. Peterson did not get the touches he was hoping for as he only tallied 27 yards on 7 carries in the 42-7 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.

The game wasn't pretty but thanks to 7 Saints turnovers, the Vikings were able to put the pressure on early to the tune of 28-0 midway through the second quarter. As expected, the defense stole the show forcing 1 fumble and 6 INTs to go along with 6 sacks. The passing attack looked decent outside of 2 terrible overthrows by Sam Bradford that resulted in 2 interceptions. Bradford went 16-22 for 291 yards and 3 TDs. The running game was not as impressive as the coaching staff was hoping. All together, Minnesota ran the ball 40 times for 108 yards led by rookie Dalvin Cook who carried the ball 22 times for 79 yards.

Next on the docket for the Vikings (1-0) is the Steelers (0-1) at Heinz Field. This match-up will highlight one of the league's best defenses against the league's #1 offense. The Steelers lost superstar WR Antonio Brown to a fractured foot but still managed to throw for over 500 yards in week 1.
