Undefeated hopes crushed

The ambitions of an undefeated season have met their end today for the Atlanta Falcons as they fell 29-43 to the Denver Broncos. The defense was simply too poor, allowing 5 touchdowns to Brock Osweiler as Demaryius Thomas tore them up. Despite forcing Osweiler into 3 turnovers, the defense couldn't get the necessary stops. The offense looked dead in the water before battling back from 21-0. The broncos had scored 21 points before the falcons even mustered a 1st down. The team did rally to make it a single score game, but the Broncos turned it on late to clinch this one, handing Atlanta their first loss. With the #1 seed locked up, it was mildly surprising that the starters played the entirety of the game. Dan Quinn commented afterwards:
"We knew denver was an outstanding football team. I thought our guys wanted to compete in this one and get one last trial before we hit the postseason. Obviously, we've still got some things to work on, but nobody is hanging their heads. We played tough, just a few things we need to clean up and I think we win that game. The starters will rest next week in Tampa to prepare mentally and physically for the playoffs. We expect a Lombardi trophy in our stadium."
The falcons now have a loss, perhaps removing the pressure of trying to go 19-0. We will see soon, as Atlanta gears towards the postseason

Might be the best thing! That kind of pressure, assuming you get to Super Bowl, could be rough!
