Twin City Times: Vikings 1st round pick

One of the NFL's stingiest defenses just got a little tougher. What turned out to be quite the surprise for fans and front office alike, the Vikings selected OLB Harold Landry out of Boston College with their first round pick. Landry has drawn comparisons to former BC alum Luke Keuchly; however, not so much for their playing styles but the potential for Landry to become a star is a very real possibility.

Truth be told, the Vikings were lucky to get their hands on this dynamic linebacker. Just about every mock draft had Landry in the top 10 if not the top 5. That being said, very little research was done on this player and the pick was a dice roll but the front office feels like it was an easy decision to make.

One of the perks that come along with Harold is his versatility. At 6'3 and 248 pounds, look for him to rotate between the three linebacker positions as well as occasionally sub in at defensive end when Everson Griffen or Danielle Hunter need a break. Minnesota feels like they have found an aggressive playmaker that has the ability to change the momentum of a game at any given moment. If Landry can improve his coverage, he has the ability to become one of the all time great linebackers to ever put on a purple jersey. Time will tell. Twin City Times gives a A- for this 1st round pick.
