Right before the draft, the Tigers and Giants have come to an agreement sending pitchers Chris Hammond and Jose Lima to the bay area for Gold Glover Royce Clayton and minor league 2B Eddie Ferrer.

I'm not sure what is in this for SF. They're taking on two poor pitchers, one of which is owed $3M+ for two years and are giving up and elite defensive shortstop to do it? I dont understand why. What are they getting out of this?
