Hall of Famer
8 Man Battle for starting RE

So I was trying to think of a fun way to do this without just posting a bunch of ratings. All of the these guys have a base rating of high 70's to low 80's. All of the ratings listed are from DL so no confidence/scheme boosts

--------------------------
Name Chris Mccain
Age 27
Size 6'5 - 250

Strengths - He has good but not great speed and his block sheeding has improved. He is kinda a tweener as he can cover but that doesn't help him much in a 43. If he gets to the QB it will be because his finesse move. He also has the highest overall rating.

Weakness - His strength is his weakness meaning how strong he is and being only 59 he will get pushed around by LT vs the run. He also missed tackles

How titans got him - He was signed to a 3 year deal as a FA and this is the last year of his 3 year deal. Like half the titans FA signings he came over from the Steelers.

----------------------------
Name Kyle Van Noy
Age 28
Size 6'3 - 252

Strengths - He is another LB/DE Tweener who has good ball and coverage skills for the position. He is solid across the board with power moves, pursuit and tackle. His acceleration is very good at 88.

Weakness - He block sheeding is only average and also doesn't have good strength

How titans got him - He was a former high 2nd round pick who never lived up to the potential for the lions. He signed a 2 year deal and spent last year as a backup.

------------------------
Name Danielle Hunter
Age 24
Size 6'5 - 252

Strengths - Speed, Speed and more speed he has 87 speed, 84 agility and 90 acceleration so the first thing you think of with him is a pass rush specialist on nickel formations. His finesse move is solid as well and really shines with pursuit. His strength of 77 is better then you would expect from a speed rusher. What would his rating be If his awareness wasn't 49 ?

Weakness - The only thing keeping him from being pro bowl caliber player is his block shedding which is mid 60's. Also his play recognition is pitful being mid 40's.

How titans got him - He is a former 3rd round pick from LSU who has played the previous 4 years for the Vikings including 2017 where he had 6 sacks. He was signed this past offseason and the titans was pleased he went under the radar with him being so young

----------------------------------
Name Traivon Holliday
Age 24
Size 6'3 - 255

Strengths - He got 3 sacks in the first preseason game via sim. He might be the best all around DE from all the choices the titans have. He has some block shedding, speed, both kind of moves and pursit. With this being only his 2nd year in the NFL he should still be able to improve in areas.

Weakness - His play recognition needs some work and still misses some tackles

How titans got him - The chiefs took him with the 1st pick the 4th round last year but he was a surprise cut as a rookie. So the titans signed him midseason for the minimum and was a reserve last year

---------------------
Name Tyrell Gordon
Age 23
Size 6'3 - 255

Strengths - His block shed, hit power and tackle are all over 80

Weakness - He is the lowest rated of the bunch and the only one that doesn't fall in the high 70's to low 80's range. So he doesn't really have a chance to start this year. His speed is really slow with 72 and agility is even worse and he doesn't have the size to play DT.

How titans got him - He is a rookie that was drafted late in the 4th round

----------------------------
Name Mario Edwards
Age 23
Size 6'3 - 280

Strengths - His block shedding is elite and 90+ so that alone could be enough to get him on the field. His tackle and pursuit also is over 80.

Weakness - He doesn't have good speed and agility and his awareness is only 52 so that really hurts his overall rating.

How titans got him - He was taken with the 2nd pick In the 3rd round by the raiders where he spent 4 years as a backup. He was only able to get 1 sack in that time and was on the trade block that whole time. He was signed this offseason to a deal and was quickly moved to DT where his overall went up 5 points.

-------------------------------
Name Okoye Mason
Age 23
Size 6'5 - 290

Strengths - He was picked so high in this draft because he has a 88 block shedding. He also doesn't miss tackle and will hit you hard. With his block shedding could play DE in the 43 on running downs this year.

Weakness - His is slow with all 3 speed ratings being below 80.

How titans got him - He was taken in the 2nd round of this years draft and moved over to DT. Like most young players his awareness and play recognition need some major work

--------------
Name Victor Woods
Age 24
Size 6'3 - 302

Strengths - He blew up the combine with and was a workout warrior. He has two elite traits that you can't teach in strength and acceleration. A 300 pound DT with 92 acceleration is very impressive. His block shedding is also mid 80's

Weakness - He has slow development. He is a DT so can he rush the passer at DE? His straight line speed is only 76.

How titans got him - Titans had him has a lock for a top 10 pick and maybe even top 5 as rumors has him going to ravens in the top 5. So the titans stayed true to BPA and it ended up kinda back firing as he has slow development.

I would just straight start Holliday. No one else really seems to be a situational player, meaning they dont excel at a certain thing like pass vs run stop.
