The New Orleans Saints have just been purchased by a new owner, Alex Imperfect. The following is a recent press release about the future of the team.

"I am honored to be the new owner of this great team in this beautiful city. I plan to build a team worthy of these people and reaching the playoffs in the upcoming season. The Saints are a proud team in need of a new direction. With the expected retirement of Drew Brees this year the Saints will need a new face and personality.

Addressing the offense first, you can not replace someone like Drew. He has had a historic career and will be missed, but never forgotten. We will be looking for someone to step in or step up into his role and some new targets for them to throw to. Overall the offense has potential to be a force in this league, but this year everyone will need to contribute.

The defense is another story. You can not rely on putting up 35pts a game in the NFL. We were in the bottom 10th of the league in every defensive stat and that needs to change. It was mismanaged system with players playing in the wrong position or in the wrong scheme along with a mentality that the offense would simply carry the game.

A few players will be moving on from the Saints this year for different reasons and for the other owners there are two on the trade block.

C.J. Spiller is a good player and a great receiving back, but he lacks any ability to be consistent running the ball and more importantly in pass blocking situations. Every player must be willing to pull their weight this year and whether it's laziness or the inability to learn fundamentals he is not a player the Saints will need moving forward.

Jamal Myrick is another story. He was one of our most consistent defensive players last year and really stepped up with defensive leadership on the IR, but he does not fit the scheme we are looking the implement. Myrick learned to play in a Cover 2 defense and we here seek to build an attack 3-4. This would require Myrick to become a pass rusher which he has never been in his career. We believe on day he will be a superstar in this league and hope the best for him.

The Saints organization will be looking for offers that include, 3-4 linebackers of any kind, man to man corners, a good red zone threat at the WR position, a strong young QB, or a change of pace RB.

Thank you again New Orleans."
