After The Game Notes :
The Carolina Panthers wrapped up their first glorified scrimmage of the season against the Baltimore Ravens. Despite it being a loss, there was a lot of information to process and see how the team stacked up against some live competition. So what exactly did we learn?

Offense is back

The Panthers had the highest scoring offense in the league last season and many questioned if it was a fluke. Even though the starters only played for a series before hitting the showers, what we saw should make fans excited for the regular season.

Quarterback Cam Newton looked poised and capable of leading the offense early. He hit his throws and stayed calm despite pressure. The receivers ran good routes and utilized their big frames well against the Ravens’ cornerbacks. The running attack could use some work, but Carolina kept some of their starters from even putting on a helmet, so that can be dismissed right now.

The one and only drive ended with a field goal, but mostly because they stalled in the red zone. Again, with all of the starters in, the Panthers should be able to punch it in. Either way, for the first live action, Carolina put together one heck of a drive and put points on the board.
