Lions continue to play hard

In the beginning of this game it looked like it was going to be a rout. Coach Caldwell decided to have Quandre Diggs lined up on Jordan Matthews and on the first play of the game for the Eagles offense torched him for a long touchdown. As a Lions fan this was a horrible sign as they have been winning their games with defense and the offense has not been showing up. However the slow methodical offense continued to do just that. They had long drives that allowed the defense to get some rest and get some coaching from defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. Karlos Williams may not have a lot of rushing yards each game but he runs hard and wears down the defense for rookie Darius Jackson. The two combined for 131 yards and 3 touchdowns. The defense settled in and only allowed three points the rest of the game en route to a 31-10 victory over the Eagles.

Some bad news for Eagles fans as starting quarterback Sam Bradford went down with a dislocated elbow. He will be out for the next 6 weeks and it will be interesting to see how rookie Carson Wentz does in the upcoming games. Could this be his chance to claim the starting role from Bradford? Or will the Eagles continue to groom him and sent him back to the bench when Bradford returns?

Lions move to 5-0 and they'll look to continue their steady play next week against the Los Angeles Rams.
