Necessary Roughness is a Madden NFL 15 online league utilizing the Connected Franchise Mode feature on the PlayStation 4 gaming system. The league is a simulation "sim" league utilizing standard "sim" rules. All league games are streamed LIVE on Twitch.tv and archived utilizing Twitch's built in archiving feature.
If you are interested in joining Necessary Roughness, please fill out an application and we will add you to the wait list. However, please look over the entire league description and league guidelines before joining to make sure we are a good fit for you and vice versa.
League Rules
The number one rule in Necessary Roughness is to have fun! We want everyone to enjoy the game and the league and to create an environment that makes people want to come back multiple times every day. While interacting with other league members and playing your games, make sure to keep that goal in mind. Is what you are doing fun for you and are you contributing to the enjoyment of the others in the league as well? If we all take that mindset into the league, we will no doubt have one of the best Madden leagues on the planet!
To make things simple and to create a general guide for our members, we have put together a detailed set of League Guidelines. This is not an all encompassing list, however. All users will be expected to play realistic, simulation football. If you are an online lobby player and play for your record, this is probably not the league for you. If you like to use game exploits, cheats or "cheese" plays to win, this is not the league for you. While we are willing to help new members acclimate to simulation football, we do not want to ruin other league member's enjoyment by having them play against non-sim tactics. So, please keep that in mind before signing up to play. If you have any questions, please send a PM to league commissioner majesty95.
Twitch
All games are required to be broadcast LIVE on Twitch.tv. League leadership will assign one user from each game to handle streaming responsibilities. Due to this, we require that all members have a reliable internet connection. A 10 Mbps download, 5 Mbps upload and less than 60 ms ping is preferred. If you do not know your connection speed, you can do a free speed test here.
Periodically throughout the season, we will have LIVE league Red Zone shows. These will function like the NFL's Red Zone Channel. We will highlight three games in the league being played at the same time and jump between games as teams advance down the field. We encourage each member to show up for these events and watch other league games being streamed when your availability allows.
Sportsbook
We have a virtual sportsbook here on the forum and utilize it for the league. We will post odds for Super Bowl winners, division winners and league games throughout the year. Your winnings in the Sportsbook can then be exchanged for prizes like games, iPads, systems and more in our store. This is just another unique feature that we have to help you get the most out of your Madden league experience.
Team Selection
The list of teams available will change depending on whether current members leave. You may send a PM to majesty95 and ask for the available teams or post in this thread. While we would like to accommodate everyone with their preferred team, many times we just need to fill one or two spots. Therefore, owners who are willing to take any team just to be a part of the league will get be preferred.
League Activity
Each member of the league is expected to be as active as possible within the league. While we realize that not everyone will have the same amount of time to devote to the league as others, we do expect each member to stay active on the forum and up-to-date on league happenings. With smartphones, tablets and PCs we find it reasonable to require each member to stop by the forums at least once or twice per day. Obviously, the more you are active, the more you will get out of the league and the better it will be for other league members to communicate with you (scheduling, trade talks, etc.) We also have a Group Me chat for the league with which you can communicate and interact with other league members as well.
