Giants Strengthen Offensive Line in Free Agency

August 30, 2016

The left side of the Giants' offensive line is very good; the right side, not so much. The Giants have attempted to rectify this issue by signing both (RG) Ryan Wendell and (C) Will Montgomery to one-year contracts. The Giants were also pursuing (RG) Jon Asamoah but were unable to sign up. Both Wendell and Montgomery will be starting immediately. Montgomery will be moving over to right tackle. The Giants are hopeful that these two signings will help bolster the entire offense. The Giants gave up 27 sacks last season and were ranked dead last in average passing yards per game. With these two signings, Manning should have more time in the pocket to find open wrs, and both running backs, Vereen and Jennings will have better blockers up front, who are both still battling for the starting running back position.

The Giants have now acquired some key role players in the offseason on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball under new owner JohnnyPersia. We will see how these changes translate on the field.
