Good afternoon folks. Buck Manning here, bringing you some much needed good Colts news today. After a rough start to the season. A season in which the NFL has seen a record for interceptions in the first 5 games. The Colts are leading the way with 20 of those INT's. Finally Andrew Luck was able to get through this contest with his first interception free game. The Colts eeked out a 19-14 victory over 'Da Bears'. Luck was able to connect deep with Donte Moncrief for a long 80 yard TD. Adam Vinatieri kicked 4 field goals to cap the scoring. His deepest FG being a 50 yarder. Showing us that the old man still has some boom in that right leg of his.
The real star of this win was the defense. The Colts attacked the bears back-up QB early and often. They racked up SEVEN sacks and were able to pressure David Fales into a crucial 1st quarter interception that Vonte Davis picked off in the end zone to stop a Bears drive that ended in the red zone. The Colts defense gave up some yards but were able to keep the bears out of the end zone until the 4th quarter.
Another bright spot was the emergence of new RB Darren Mcfadden. With Frank Gore's tread wearing thin, the Colts signed Mcfadden last week. It payed of nicely for them. Mcfadden the ex 1st round pick of the Raiders ran for 54 yards on 14 carries. Only a 3.9 YPC average but still a much needed boost to the running game. Gore again averaged a meager 13 yards on 6 carries. Gore may be in for a reduced role in the near future.
