So, woodsmall12 brought this up yesterday as he has family in town and feels bad that he can't go on auto for his opponents. We've ran into a few other instances of guys having things come up and being willing to go on auto but not because if our rule.
The rule is in place because in the short 24 hour advance often games will not get played. Some owners would put themselves in auto while others would not (either willingly or because of circumstances). This would leave pack1797 and myself fielding numerous requests to auto guys in the hours leading up to advance. There were often times when we were unavailable and guys would get upset because they couldn't play their games while others did. It created an undue burden on Matt and I and did leave some guys out to dry while others played.
Now, however, preseasons have taken on a whole new meaning with our real life rookies. Owners want to test out their new rookies as well as feel out position battles. It makes sense and it's something I'd like to give everyone the opportunity to do. However, if we choose to amend our rule, it will come with the honus that Matt and I will NOT be responsible for putting guys on auto. If you cannot play, you would need to put yourself on auto so your opponent can play the CPU. If it's going to be a sim because you cannot put yourself in auto, then that is between you and your opponent. We do not want to be dragged into these issues.
So, with that being understood, do you guys want to lift the ban on autos for the preseason with the above understanding that admin will not auto you or your opponent?
If you are all in favor, we can institute this immediately. We just need everyone to vote quickly and any objections to be raised promptly.
Thanks!
