Welcome to the first edition of "A Few Good Minutes". This will be a quick update on the Jags progress during the 2016 season.
Last night the team was able to stop a 2 game skid against the Packers. This was the third consecutive home game that saw heavy rainfall during gameplay. This sloppy weather favors the gritty play of this team that relies heavily on defense and a good dose of old school smash mouth football. With the win, the Jags move to 7-4 on the season and maintain a 2 game lead in the AFC South.
The defense continues to lead the team and is currently 8th in points allowed. House and McCray have done a great job of locking down opposing WRs and ball hawking to combine for 9 of the teams 17 INTs. Marks and Fowler lead the team with a combined 14 sacks. The team has totaled 24 sacks on the season. The defense is solid from top to bottom.
The offense continues to struggle to score points and move the ball. It's anyone's guess where this team would be if Matt Forte had not been signed in the offseason. That acquisition has proven to be a good one as the team is currently ranked 5th in rushing ypg. They are also dead last in passing ypg and that will have to be addressed in the offseason.
For now we will focus on the positive. This team is on top of their division! The Colts are next on the schedule. We will update you again after that important division game.
