Coach Bullard and his #3 Cavaliers certainly had his hands full this weekend as they go into Bobby Dodd Stadium and face #21 Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech came into the game with the 2nd best rushing attack in the nation and it sure showed as they drilled UVA's defence for 400 yards. Vad Lee rushed for 139 yards 2 TD, and Broderick Snoddy rushed for 117 and 2 TD, while Dennis Andrews rushed for 77 yards and a score. The key for UVA was going 10/11 on third down, and the way SR QB David Watford recovered from his early mistakes. It took 5 overtimes, but UVA eventually comes away with the win 71-68 and remian undefeated, and keep their title hopes still alive.

Georgia Tech would win the toss, and elect to recieve, and straight out of the gate, DT Eli Harold sacks QB Vad Lee, and UVA forces a Georgia Tech Punt. UVA would eventually go straight down the field as Watford goes 5/6 and capped off with a 4 yard TD run from HB Taquan Mizzell. Mizzell is the front runner for the Heisman award this year, and he sure showed us why today as he would eventually scamper for 157 yards and 2 TD. After going up 7-0 GT would use their flexbone offense and march straight down the field for a TD from a 3 yard TD from Broderick Snoddy. Then the problems would start for UVA. Watford throws 3 straight interceptions and GT would capitalize on 2 of them making it 21-7 before UVA even knew what happened. The Cavs finally get it together, and put together a drive to score before the half ends, on a 1 yard TD from FB Sammy Mcfarlane. That's where we would be at halftime as UVA was trailing 21-14.

UVA receives the ball after halftime but Watford would throw his 4th INT of the game, but luckily the defense bowed up, and forces a stop. UVA would score first in the third with 1:40 left on a pass WR Andre Levrone for 8 yards tieing it up 21-21. On the very first GT play QB Vad Lee takes it 75 yards to once again take the lead 28-21. That's the score after 3.
As the 4th quarter started everyone could see an upset coming. Both teams would score on their next drives making it 35-28 as UVA needs a touchdown to tie the game. UVA drives, gets into the redzone, and hands it off to HB Kye Morgan for his 2nd TD of the quarter, as they tie it 35 a piece. GT tried to win it in regulation, but the miss the last second FG, so we go into overtime!

QB David Watford for UVA showed us the clutch player he is as he nets 3 rushing TD in OT. Both teams would score in the first OT as GT WR Michael Summers catches a 28 yard pass, and David Watford takes 1 play to score as he rolls 25 yards on a QB Read play. The next TD would be scored by UVA. FB Sammy Mcfarlane scores his 2nd TD and GT would answer with a 13 yard TD from Lee giving him his 2nd of the game. After 2 OT the score is 49-49. In the third OT Both scores came on Rushing TD From GT Dennis Andrews, and UVA David Watford. Both teams convert the mandatory 2 point conversion in the third OT. 4th OT Watford would net his third rushing TD. He hits quick slant to get a first down, then on the next pass play, blocking broke down, and he had to run, and run he did, 15 yards, straight into the endzone. Once again GT would answer with a 7 yard TD from Lee to WR Travin Henry. After 4 OT the score sits at 65-65. The fifth OT is when a winner is finally reached, as UVA's defense would hold GT to a FG, and then UVA would find the endzone on an 8 yard run from HB Taquan Mizzell. Final Score 71-68.

Alot of offense today as there were 140 total points scored, 1,071 total yards of offense, 709 of which were on the ground. 20 Total touchdowns, and 17 of those 20 were rushing touchdowns. With how long the game was, and how much rushing there was, it hardly seemed like there was any passes thrown. Coach Bullard before the game said he expected a shoot out. He know's GT has a heavy offense, and said he was actually a little worried coming in. He wasn't happy with Watford's early play with 4 INT, but was glad the mistakes came early, and his team recovered. He WAS impressed with the clutch play from Watford especially in OT. Coach Bullard was asked after the game how he felt, he said "We'll take this win and move forward. Defense is going to need alot of work before next week when we have to play Miami. No time to party however, were 10-0 and looking for a NC. We are set, focused, and ready for our next challenge!
