Interview With Team Owner Ken Warren

BN: What are your expectations for Rookie QB Jameis Winston in his first season? We all assume he will be the starter, but is the team planning to "redshirt" him his first year in order to get him up to speed, or will he be the starter week 1?

KW: Well... We took Winston #1 overall in the draft... We had some serious interest in trading the pick... Chip Kelly was trying to sell the farm to get Mariota... But we decided Winston was the kid we want to lead our franchise into the next chapter... I guess to answer your question, unless crazy circumstances arise, Winston WILL be under center week 1 against Tennessee.

BN: There was a lot of buzz during the offseason about trading Mike Glennon, is that still an option, or do you see the team keeping Glennon as a Backup?

KW: Mike is a great kid... throughout this whole situation he has been a pros pro. He's eager to prove himself and be the guy under center, but at the same time he's helping Winston and showing him things here and there. We all know things go wrong in this league... guys get hurt. No one wants to be in the situation where their team is going to the #2 guy, but it happens... Mike has experience and knows the offense, so unless there is a pretty good offer, I think we will be keeping him around.

BN: Seth Lobato, what do you think his role with the team will be?

KW: He's the third stringer right now, and thats probably where he will stay.

BN: Do you think the team will take three QB's into the regular season, or go with two and save a roster spot?

KW: Well... We have a lot of young talent, so you want to use each roster spot to keep the most players that will help this team win... but like I said earlier, it happens... whats worse than needing to have your #2 QB under center...? Having to have your #3 guy... If it ever comes to that, it's best to have a young guy on the roster and learning the offense each week rather than just plucking a guy from a practice squad or free agency and throwing him in there.

BN: Thank you very much Mr. Warren. We look forward to the coming season and Buccaneer Football.

Catch us next time when we look into the teams Running Backs.
