Week 1 vs Patriots
The Panthers are on the road to start the season. They are taking on the defending Super Bowl champion Patriots. But for the first time in a while, it's the Tom Brady-less Patriots. It remains to be seen who will take over for Brady. Will it be the 4th year Garoppolo or will it be the Rookie from Ole Miss, Chad Kelly. Whoever takes the snaps will still have some weapons. And none bigger than superstar TE Rob Gronkowski. Gronkowski is a matchup nightmare for any team. And when the Pats mix in the run and hit the other playmakers on this offense they are always tough to defend.
The Patriots defense added some very nice pieces in the offseason. Their defense could be one of the best. They have talent at all 3 levels. Defensive Line features players like Jaball Sheard, Terrance Knighton, and Alan Branch. They also have an elite LB corp, with Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins. And they also have a shutdown secondary, which features Logan Ryan, Devin McCourty, and Patrick Chung.
If the Panthers want to win this game, they will have to play a perfect game. Even with Brady gone, this team could be great. They could win with defense alone.
