Well it hasn't been pretty! And definitely not what the ownership was wanting to see so far. The Panthers are sitting at 2-3, and tied for second in the division with the Bucs. But Week 6 sees the Bucs traveling to Carolina. A win this week could definitely help the way this season feels.

After a 2-1 start to the year, the Panthers have dropped 2 straight. And both of these weren't even close. The Panthers were thoroughly dominated by the Falcons and Bills. Mainly because of the terrible passing and pass coverage. Cam Newton has looked terrible this season. He's only completing 60% of his passes this year. And he's constantly turning the ball over. He has 9 turnovers on the year. The offensive line and WR Corp haven't help him though. With bad routes, drops, and constant pressure on Cam, it's hard to only blame him.

The running game really hasn't done much either. The Panthers thought bringing in Leonard Fournette would greatly help this team offensively. But he only has 367 yards and 2 TDS on the season. But when you are being hit as soon as you get the handoff, it's hard to make plays. The Panthers are desperately hoping the offensive line can straighten themselves out. It would make a big difference for this team offensively. The Panthers may soon look at starting the Rookie OT Adam Bisnowaty. Mainly because of the pathetic play of Michael Oher, who has given up 6 sacks already this season. And he has been even worse in the run game.

Defensively this team figured to be much better. But due to a lack of pass rush and pass coverage, teams don't have to try and run against their stout run d. The loss of Rookie CB Cam Sutton week 1 has really proved to be a big loss. As the Bills showed this last week, when Tyrod Taylor had the best game of his career. 365 yards, 4 TDS, and 76% completion percentage is hard to do in practice against air. But he did this against the terrible corners in Carolina. The Panthers run D has only given up 459 yards this season but when your pass D is one of the leagues worst, teams don't have to run. Hopefully when Sutton returns to his starting job, the coverage gets much better. It better, because this team isn't explosive enough offensively to get into shootouts with teams.

But the season is young, and the Panthers have played some really good teams so far this year. The last 2 loses came from teams with a combined record of 9-2. The next few weeks see the Bucs (2-3) at home, then the Saints (1-4-1) and Packers (3-2) on the road. After these games the Panthers get a bye and can hopefully get healthy over the bye week. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more Panthers news!
