After failing to make the playoffs for the last several seasons, the Giants were able to return with an 11-5 record under rookie owner JohnnyPersia. Unfortunately for the Giants, their season ended on a low note as they squandered a 17-point 4th quarter lead against their division rivals, the Eagles, in the wildcard matchup. Besides Eli Manning, who ended the year with 23 touchdown passes but 27 interceptions, there were many bright spots on both sides of the ball for Giants, which should foreshadow a promising future for the team. Aged veteran Greg Jennings reached the 1,000 yard rushing mark and also had 8 rushing touchdowns. Odell Beckham had 1381 receiving yards to go along with 11 touchdowns, leading the team in both categories. Rookie receiver Sterling Shepard contributed with 43 receptions, 608 yards, and 4 touchdowns. In another season or two he looks to be capable of taking over the #2 receiver spot. On the defensive side, Vernon lead the team with 72 tackles, 21 for a loss, and 13 sacks. Youngster Lonnie Ballentine, who was acquired in a trade with the Texans in the preason, lead the team with 5 interceptions. Erick Flowers (LT) and Eli Apple (CB), the two other key draft picks beside Shepard, both played well during the season as well.

In order to keep the team progressing forward, the Giants need to fill several holes in the offseason. The Giants refused to pay JPP the exorbitant amount that he demanded and decided to let him test free agency. In order to replace JPP, the Giants traded their 2nd-round pick to the Chargers for the young linebacker Jeremiah Attachou, who they plan to start at defensive end. At this moment, the Giants have no plans to pursue any other players and plan to fill the remaining spots on the roster through the draft. Reports are that they're looking at both the safety position and the offensive line with their first round pick.
