#12VIRGINIA SURVIVES OFF FRYE'S FOOT

12th ranked Virginia comes into Tempe, Arizona to play the Sun Devils of Arizona State. Alot of hype circling this game as UVA was 2-0 entering play, and ASU was 3-0. UVA wins the toss and decides to defer, so ASU gets the ball first. ASU's first drive stalls around the 50, and Coach Dover decides to punt it away on 4th and 1. UVA would immediately drive the length of the field and take a 7-0 lead on a 1 yard TD run from JR HB Taquan Mizzell. ASU would then start a drive that would end up lasting almost 5 minutes, capped off by a 1 yard run from SR QB Michael Eubank. UVA would score one more time in the second, when they get down to the 9 yard line, and try to run a quick slant route, the ASU DB's absolutely cover up WR's Gamble and Levrone, but SR QB David Watford finds some room to scamper for a 9 yard TD run. At halftime. The last possession UVA had in the 2nd quarter they were bailed out. As Watford dropped back, ASU's defensive end was on him so fast, he rushed a throw and it was intercepted, however the DE nails Watford, and roughing the passer is called, to allow UVA to score that TD. UVA would recieve the 2nd half kickoff, and have a stalled drive at ASU's 42 yard line. They attempt a 59 yard field goal, and miss it. Coach Dover takes the great field position, and take it for 7. Michael Eubank would keep a QB Read option play and scamper for 34 yards and 6 points. UVA had a hard time stopping the read option play as it went for big yards whenever it was ran. As the 4th quarter begins, Watford finds Mizzell on a slant route out of the backfield, and Mizzell would take it 41 yards, and ultimately end up punching it in again from 1 yard out to take a 21-14 lead early in the 4th. ASU was not done, as they have another long sustained drive lasting over 3 minutes and ended by a 6 yard TD run from SR HB and Heisman Candidate DJ Foster. 21-21 with 2:20 left in the 4th. Coach Bullard gets one more shot, and stalls again at the 39 yard line of ASU territory. Ian Frye sets out to kick another FG this time from 56 yards, and Coach Dover ices him. He ends up missing the 56 yard feild goal wide right after the timeout. With 30 seconds left, ASU decides to hurl it down the field to go for the win, after it looked like the receiver had space, Eubank throws an interception into the arms of JR CB Tim Harris. Under 30 seconds left, Watford completes a sideline route to SR WR Adrian Gamble he goes out on the 39 yard line. With Frye missing a 56 yarder already, they try to get a few more yards, but on a dive run, they only get 1. Coach Bullard runs the clock down to 2 seconds, then calls a timeout, and once Frye lines up, Coach Dover once again tries to ice him. Frye is 0-2 from 59,56 at this point, but Coach Bullard leaves faith in his SR kicker, and after the ice attempt, Ian Frye nails the 55 yarder as time expires. It was a very heated matchup, and I don't think we have seen the last of this Coach Bullard/Coach Dover matchup. All 6 touchdown were scored on the ground, with 0 passing TD's scored between the two SR QB's. Taquan Mizzell for the third time takes home player of the game honors for the game, and has received them every game this year for UVA. #12Virginia survives and wins 24-21. Virginia moves to 3-0 on the year and look to crack the top 10, as ASU drops to 3-1 on the year.
