UNLV's season is over. They finish 5-7 on the year, and considering that halfway through the year, they had a record of 2-6, they finished the season strong going 3-1, and they're only loss in that strain of 4 games was to SDSU and they lost on a failed two point conversion 31-29. They were playing for pride and integrity today. The game started off rocky for the Rebels, as they were down 19-7 at one point. The Rebels lost FR FB Tony Terrell the first game of the year, and did not get him back until today, and his presence was felt today. He was brought in to be the go to guy in short yardage situations. In the first quarter, UNLV find themselves 1st and goal on the 1 yardline, and they hand it off to Terrell to punch it in. They end up getting a field goal right before halftime to get closer. 19-10 at halftime. Right out of the gates in the third quarter, SJSU goes down to kick one more field goal (the 5th today) and that would end up being the last time the Spartans would score. Late in the third quarter, UNLV finds some room on a triple option, and JR HB Niko Kapeli takes the pitch from SR QB Nick Sherry to find the endzone, 22-17 at this point. 4th quarter was very slow, as there wasn't much scoring. After a few possession changes, UNLV's defense comes alive and forces SJSU to punt with just over 2 minutes left in the game. The Spartans punt goes out on the 5 yard line, leaving UNLV having to drive 95 yards to win. Down 5, 95 yards to go, 2:30 left in the game. UNLV puts together an 18 play drive, 2 successful 4th down conversions, and punch it in from 3 yards out from their short yardage guy Tony Terrell again 23-22. They convert a 2 point conversion. SJSU wasn't ready to quit. They had 25 seconds left. They drive down and kick a 57 yard field goal as time expires, and they miss it. UNLV finishes the season 5-7.

Nick Sherry who has been the general for UNLV the past 4 years, played his final game today. He was tearful after the game stating that he has enjoyed his time here at the university, and he will never forget the last 4 years. His draft status is still unknown. He hasn't decided if he will enter the draft or not. But he will definatley be missed here in Las Vegas. During his post game interview you could hear the home crowd chanting "Sherry, Sherry, Sherry, Sherry" It was a very heartfelt goodbye.
