Kent State 42, Central Michigan 14

KENT, Ohio - Kent State fans weren't sure what to expect when starting quarterback Nic Buckley went down in the season's sixth game. Although backup Neal Britt led the team to victory in that game against Florida International, the next game was the team's first loss to eventual division champ Arkansas State. Britt wasn't overly spectacular in either game and has had his ups and downs as a first-year starter. However, Britt's most recent game was a signature performance for the sophomore signal caller.

Saturday against Central Michigan, Britt completed 20-of-27 passes for 222 yards and a career high six touchdown passes. He also did so without turning the ball over and looked every bit the team leader than Buckley had been. Through 5.5 games as a starter (the same length as Buckley this year) both quarterback's numbers are nearly identical. Buckley has thrown for 35 more yards on six less passes while each quarterback has exactly 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. The question now isn't how will the Golden Flashes do with Britt in for Buckley, it is who will be the starter once Buckley is health enough to return.

Kent State is on a four-game winning streak under Britt and just notched their 10th win for only the second time in team history (and second in last four years). While the loss to Arkansas State has eliminated them from a chance to play for the conference championship, the Flashes appear almost guaranteed to finish the regular season ranked in the Top 10 (they were 10th going into this weekend). They also have a very good chance for an at large bid in a BCS bowl.

The questions surrounding the Kent State football team going into the season and again midway through it were justified. However, now the questions have changed. One more win (at Ball State next weekend) and a selection to a BCS bowl game and head coach Mike Austin will have to answer the biggest question of his three-year tenure: Buckley or Britt in the biggest game in the school's 95-year history?

Tulane beats Navy and becomes Bowl eligible!!!!!!!!

Navy came out of the gate swinging while Tulane looked like they were sleep from a bye week. Navy jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter behind QB Reynolds in the first 2 min. Tulane needed to get thing settled so they relied on JR RB Rounds to give the defense some time to get it together. Tulane out scored Navy 21-7 in the 2nd quarter as the offense was clicking. The defense got a couple of stops but it wasn't easy. Tulane scored a FG after the half. But the turning point in the game would be when Reynolds Navy's star QB went down. Mid way through the 3rd quarter he already had 271 yards on 21 carries and 3 TD. Navy's backup couldn't hold up against Tulane's Defense the way Reynolds did. This injury was the key to Tulane's win. Tulane had 9 recruits in the stand.

FIU has one mission late in the season, finish out and get to the Championship. The Panthers took the first step against Marshall, escaping with a 16-14 win. FIU owned the 1st half, scoring 13 unanswered on the Herd and everything seemed to be going their way. In the second half, a different Marshall team emerged. They began to shut down FIU and were unstoppable on offense. The 4th quarter was a draw and FIU used a late drive to seal the deal, kicking a FG with 7 seconds left to seal the victory.
Last but not least is FAU to wrap up the regular season.
