Before we move on to the defensive breakdowns, we want to take you to some breaking news coming out of Cleveland. With the year suspension of Josh Gordon, the WR position in Cleveland is up for grabs. Having said that, the Browns have gone out and signed rookie Darius Jennings. Darius was not drafted in the 2015 draft, and boy, did 31 teams miss out! Let's jump right into what makes this guy so special.

While undersized, Jennings comes with powerful weapons. He is an EXPLOSIVE wide receiver. He has great speed, and the ability to make big plays. He averaged 19.3 yards per catch in 2014. He also scored 3 touchdowns, including 1 on the ground. In his 4 years at Virginia, he finished with 3,719 all purpose yards, and 1,667 of those receiving. 13 total touchdowns, 12 receiving and 1 rushing. His biggest attribute is his ability to return kicks. He averaged 27.1 yards per return in 2014 and finished with a total of 1,839 kick return yards.

Darius has quick feet and good lateral movement to get up the field. He finds open spaces in the secondary and always looks himself through the catch to maintain he keeps control. He is always aware of the sideline, and does an excellent job at keeping his feet in to complete the catch. He will surprise alot of DB's at the NFL level. They will see some undersized kid, and while they are thinking of that he will already be past them making the catch down the field. Has great moves to make defenders miss and grab more yards after the catch. Will make a great slot/4th receiver, and will also battle Travis Benjamin, and Taylor Gabriel for kick returning duties. With good development he could really make his way up the depth chart, and will be a great option in case of injury. This kid is hungry for his chance and owner Chris Bigtex couldn't be more excited for the kid. Here's what he had to say.

The contract for Jennings shows this organization thinks he is here to stay, as the sign the undrafted rookie to a 3 year deal. His deal consists of 3 years at $1,575,000. Alot of analysts think signing a guy with no combine results and not getting drafted for 3 years could be a risky deal, but Bigtex has no worries.

Jennings is one of our missing links. The fact that there's not a whole lot of tape on him favors us. Defenses will not be ready for him. I just can't wait until he actually hits the field

While, he will have to battle for his spot, I have all the faith in the world on this kid.

Preseason Trade

The Browns have traded 24 year old RB Terrance West! West is heading off to Nashville to join Mariotta and the Titans! West is a 3rd round pick in last years draft, and to get that pick in the third round the Browns traded with San Francisco a 4th and 6th round. The news came as a surprise as there were no indications West would be on the move. West, who is a big burly back, said he was surprised, but is happy for the new opportunity. This opens the door for rookie RB Duke Johnson. With West gone, the main running backs will be Isiah Crowell, Duke Johnson, and Shaun Draughn. West will be missed, and many feel as if the Browns didn't get any value at all for West but the Browns are ready to move on and get on with the regular season. West was traded for a 7th round pick.

Browns Cut Pryor, Add Turbin
​

Shortly after the West trade to Tennesee, the Browns have added RB Robert Turbin from waivers! Turbin who has been a RB in Seattle has racked up 928 yards on 231 carries. He hasn't seen much field because he has sat behind Lynch and Michael. To make the roster move, the Browns have cut Terrelle Pryor, the QB turned WR. Pryor was hoping to revamp his career as a WR in Cleveland will not get that chance. Pryor had this to say:

Robert Turbin will add good value to the Browns alongside Crowell and Johnson. Browns owner likes to use 3 RB's in his games to keep fresh legs on the field. Turbin is excited about his opportunity here in Cleveland. Turbin was a 4th round pick by Seattle in the 2012 draft, out of Utah St. Look for him to get good playing time here!

Browns Vikings Make Deal
​

Browns and Vikings strike a deal in Week 7 of the first season! One week from the deadline! The Browns had 7 CB's on the roster, which is the league max. When you have 7 CB's unfortunately a few of them wont play. One of those is Pierre Desir. Desir is an up and coming CB. He was taken in the 4th round with the 127th pick in 2014. He has a good skill set, and if molded correctly, will be one good shut down corner. The only thing is the Browns are loaded with good young corners. Desir had not seen a snap since preseason, and the Vikings were interested. The Browns wanted to go after a young coverage FS. While the Browns have a solid safety in Gipson, his future is unknown in Cleveland.

Gipson has some things going on, but he will get them worked out. He is in his contract year, and if he wants the big contract he will step up his game. I can't tell you if he'll be back next year right now. That is up to him. If he gives us all he has, then definitely, he is worth the money.

Exum is a 2nd year man out of Virginia Tech, and has one of the best coverage skill sets for a safety in the NFL at only the ripe age of 24. Exum, a 6th round pick he was taken 182nd overall in the 2014 draft. We already saw Exum get some playing time in the first game vs the Cardinals. He subbed in and out with Gipson for about 10 downs. If that doesn't send a message I don't know what will. If the Browns do resign Exum, he will still be a good third safety in the Quarter package, and can help out playing CB from time to time. We will see him in games, don't worry about that! The Browns are excited about this new acquisition, but it will take some time until we see Exum explode! Hold on tight #BrownsNation, there's alot to be excited about!

Big Name Signings!!!

Cleveland sign RB C.J. Anderson and TE Ladarius Green from the 2015 offseason heading into the 2016 season. Both of these players will make an immediate impact. CJ will start at HB and look to be the Browns first 1,000 yard rusher under owner Chris Bigtex. Ladarius Green will give Johnny another weapon in his arsenal to make this team succeed. Both of these signings are very good for this team, and should help Johnny develop.

Browns Swap Safeties​

While he was asleep, the Browns released backup SS Ibraheim Campbell. Drafted in the 4th round of the 2015 draft, Ibraheim saw most of his time in preseason. He only tallied 4 tackles last year. Ibraheim was causing some locker room issues, so owner Chris Bigtex decided it was time for him to go. In place of Campbell, the Browns pick up SS Daimion Stafford. Stafford was released from the titans earlier in the day, so the Browns jumped on to welcome him. At the time being, he will be placed at #2 SS playing behind veteran Donte Whitner.

Browns Sign Cutler

​

In light of the Manziel injury, the Browns reached out to veteran QB, Jay Cutler. Cutler is a strong armed QB who can still hurl the ball down the field. There is no report yet on whether or not he will start. We will find out in the Week 4 game vs the Jets where Cutler stands after this signing. Here is Cutler's career stat line:
