GOING ONCE… GOING TWICE… SOLD!

Detroit, MI – Big news in The Motor City this offseason. The Detroit Lions Franchise has been sold!

Auto industry titan and lifelong Lions Fan, Chris Brooks, has purchased the franchise taking matters into his own hands in hopes to steer this championship starved team in a better direction. During his initial press conference, Brooks stated, “It’s time for a change in Detroit. It’s time to make the Lions respected around the league.”

Detroit fans are already having their doubts about this “change” as Detroit’s front office passed on picking up high profile player, Le’veon Bell in free agency this off season. The Lions just missed the playoffs last year and many fans believe adding that level of talent might just be the jolt they need to get there in 2018.

Brooks replied to the immediate criticism stating, “Change has to begin at the foundation; at the core of the team. You change the culture, and then you can look to add players. You can’t solely fix a team by writing big checks in free agency. We need to first assess what we have on this team. We want to be sure to get the right players for the right price.”

Players like Bell would give this team an immediate lift but the team does have a large amount of needs up and down the roster. The front office will want consider its cap room before committing to big contracts.

Will Brooks be able to put the right pieces together for this organization, bringing the change and respect he envisions or will Detroit continue to be a non-contender come playoff time? Only time will tell.

One thing is for sure -- With the reigning Super Bowl champion, Minnesota Vikings along with Aaron Rodgers and company sitting in the NFC North, Chris Brooks will have his work cut out for him.
