The Chicago Tribune - The Team That Can't Finish

The title says it all, the Chicago Bears the last two weeks have been a team that can not finish a game. Week 3 they were lucky to sneak away with a win against the Cowboys thanks to a shanked field goal. This week they were playing well with a couple of hiccups on offense in the first half going in to half time only down 3-0 to the Detroit Lions. Apparently nobody decided to return to the field to actually play a football game in the second half for Chicago giving up 17 more points with a complete defensive melt down and throwing 3 interceptions.

If Chicago even expects to be a threat for the Wild Card at the end of the year they need to turn this around. It may be early in the season but fans in Chicago are not happy. Jay Cutler being injured is not helping the team at all offensively either. David Fales has been absolutely horrible in relief for Jay Cutler as far as decision making goes, sometimes forcing passes into areas that even a Pop Warner quarterback knows not to throw the ball. David Fales is not Brett Favre and will not win games by forcing passes, his arm strength is mediocre at best.

Next week the Bears are in Indianapolis, if their Defense can play the entire game the way that they started the game against the Lions they should be in decent position to have a chance at winning. That being said the typical Chicago meltdown and David Fales ruining any chance of them winning might happen again as well. If things don't turn around Chicago fans wouldn't be surprised to see John Fox out of a job come off season time.

Will Chicago turn it around and Week 5 and get back into the win column? Will the Colts show up and finally win a game and embarrass Chicago? Nobody knows but I'll tell you what, this columnist isn't holding his breath on the Bears and Colts game with how both teams have been playing the past couple of weeks.
