The Arrowhead - Bye Week Edition

Welcome back to another edition of The Arrowhead! Your Kansas City Chiefs enter into the bye week at 3-6. It's been a disappointing season to get here and been rough for Chiefs fans. The defense gave up entirely too many yards and the offense looked lethargic, sluggish, and uninspired. Alex Smith had thrown 6 TDs to 11 INTs, causing head coach Andy Reid to make the QB switch, starting rookie Patrick Mahomes II over the veteran QB. Mahomes led the team to their 2nd win of the season on the road in Oakland, performing an impressive comeback and looking nothing like the rookie. The following week he fell back to earth in the face of the infamous Denver defense, throwing 1 TD to 4 INTs. Today, though, Mahomes bounced back in another solid performance, much like his win over Oakland, he looked solid in Dallas, beating the Cowboys in Jerry's World.

Since starting Mahomes, this Chiefs offense has a little more swag, rookie Kareem Hunt has gotten back to rushing form looking solid and quietly having a good season. The offense has looked more explosive over the past few weeks despite the limited receiving options. Conley and De'Anthony Thomas have stepped up in recent weeks but have also been inconsistent, the Chiefs certainly need some adjustments along the O-Line but expect this to be addressed in free agency, the Chiefs will undoubtedly draft a WR within the first 3 rounds of the upcoming draft. The Chiefs have to be very good in selecting their talent as they don't have a 1st round pick this season seeing as they traded up for Mahomes, a decision which looks to have been the right one.
