**SUSPENSION** Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers have received the following sanctions following their playoff game with the Green Bay packers:

• Luke Kuechly is suspended for the game vs CHI and must be completely removed from the depth chart.
• Coach Jukem has been suspended for the first regular season game of next season.

The infraction occurred with 2:34 remaining in the 4th quarter of the playoff game between Green Bay and Carolina. Carolina called a zone blitz and then run committed. Per the S2 State of the Union:

NFL teams only "run commit" in 1 yard or less to go situations on the goal line or, maybe, when losing late on a 3rd or 4th down that they need to get a stop to get the ball back. Also, run commit is exactly what it says. You are "committing" to stopping the run. That doesn't mean call a base zone defense, get your defenders to all attack if its a handoff and then drop back into coverage if they happen to fool you and are passing. That is completely unrealistic and just playing Madden. If you are run committing, it should be an all out blitz and you should be perfectly aware that if your opponent expects it and fools you, you just gave up a TD. That's how it works in real life and that's how it should work in here.

Everyone please take note of this. We expect guys to go over by one here and there on the route guidelines. You may even go over here and there slightly on man/zone percentages or blitz percentages. However, realistic football strategy like this needs to be adhered to at all times. Please go back over the rules and S2 State of the Union often to keep these things fresh in your minds.

We expect that this was a one-time oversight by a veteran owner. Things happen in the heat of battle. We get that. We do need to adhere to the rules as closely as possible game in and game out though as they are there to provide a competitively balanced playing field for every user. Coach jukem understands this and has accepted these sanctions.
