Raiders Qb Sterling Patrick earned the starting job and a nickname from the newly hired GM Kelly. "Sterling Silver" was the nickname bestowed upon Patrick. When we asked Kelly why he chose the nickname he said "I think Sterling is a superb talent and he has all of the tools to lead this team. I thought about the colors of this organization...Silver and Black...and it just came out..."Sterling Silver". You have to admit it has a ring to it." Nicknames aside, Sterling only threw the ball twice completing 2 of 2 passes. One of which went for a 37 yard TD. Kelly told reporters "If Sterling can keep that type of efficiency during the regular season and continue to come out and score like he did today, there's no doubt that he will be a great QB." Seems like Sterling has truly won Kelly over. One thing is for sure, Sterling has the right stuff. The question is can he lead this Offense when the games matter.
