Steelers Season Review

After starting the season 1-6 the Steelers would go on to finish 7-2 over the last 9 weeks of the season (6-2 with new ownership). Team officials and players have said the struggle in the beginning of the season had a couple of factors. Dealing with the ownership sale from one of the most prestigious owners in football was not easy. That coupled with the injury to Antonio Brown drastically affected the Steelers offensive staff.

Pittsburgh was oh so close to making the playoffs. Their 2 losses in the final 9 games came to two of the AFCs best in Houston and Jacksonville. The game versus Houston was a back breaker, giving up the go ahead score with less than 2 minutes left on the clock. Despite the injury to Brown, the Steelers had a top 10 offense. They finished with 5 players with over 500 yards.

Tomlin and Kevin Colbert met in their exit meetings and expect most players on the offensive side of the ball back and not too many drastic changes. They hope they can fill the RB spot. Hurd showed some promise, but from what I gathered they felt he's best as a change of pace back. Although it was not said the Steelers may target a QB as Big Ben continues to age. The team right now has around 20-25 mil in cap room, but have already stated that they are going to use the tag on Antonio Brown. Most of the other FAs they have are fillers, but this team has a lot of weak spots on their defense, especially at DB, LB. Would not be surprised to see this team switch to a 4-3 in the offseason.

Very exciting future for the Steelers, but definitely need to add a few pieces and make some tough decisions on certain players.
