Starter
Just a few seasons ago, the San Francisco 49ers boasted one of the league’s best defenses under former head coach Jim Harbaugh, and had made it to the NFC Championship games three years in a row, including one Super Bowl trip.

Fast-forward to 2017, and the 49ers are looking to start the season with their third different head coach in three seasons, and drafted an rookie QB DeShaun Watson from Clemson to be new face of the 49ers franchise. With one of the league’s worst offense’s last season and a defense that struggled to replace several key retirees, the 49ers hope Mike McCarthy’s offensive acumen and a solid draft will start to turn
things around in the Bay Area.

Players to watch.
1. QB DeShaun Watson
Watson is an outstanding playmaker at the college level but he needs to improve in the passing game. Coach McCarthy believes he can help him with that since he helped QB Aaron Rodgers to be one of the elite QBs in the NFL.

2. DE Arik Armstead
The No. 17 pick of the 2015 draft took a while to adapt to the NFL game, but he came on strong at the end of the season. If his camp performance is any indication, he should overtake his numbers from last year.

3. WR Mike Williams
Williams is ready to form one of the nation’s best quarterback-receiver combinations with Deshaun Watson. He tracks the ball extremely well down the field, making him a big-play threat.
