Saints Preview

Starter
Saints , with a new owner and a new approach look to match new personnel to playbook and scheme.

Key acquisitions:

1. Vetrean WR Ted Ginn jr.-
Ginn quickly jumped to #2 on the WR roster behind speedster Cooks. His role is to provide steady leadership and constant route running. Dispute being 32 years old, Ginn still has the "wheels" to enhance the vertical passing game and be a mentor to rookie Carrington.
2. FB Mike Reese-
Reese , also age 32, not only bring his experience to the backfield but provides QB Brees anywhere recving weapon. Not expecting to get many rush yards, Reese is ready to provide a safety value for Brees under an aging O-line.
3. MLB Rob Ninkovich
At 33 years old, Ninkovich has his best days behind him but the saints were in desperate need of LB upgrades this season. Fitting nicely into the 3-4 attack plan, look for NInkovich to create some chaos out the outside.
Draft Class: ( key pick ups)

1. CB Teez Tabor- Florida
The Saints made no secret of the fact they had an eye on quickster Tebor. Offfield issues may have led to him sliding to the 9th overall pick, was fine by the Saints who were in need of a young shutdown corner. Development may take some time for Tabor, but early signs shown to a good work ethic and a "team first " mentality .
2. ROLB Jarrad Davis- Florida
With Teammate Tabor comes LB Davis who flanks Vet Ninkovich in the linebacker corps. At a whopping 6'2 242 pounds, a Davis brings the right combination of size, hit power, and speed to balance run stopping and coverage. Look for Davis to make a impact early on due tot the fact he has already earned his starting role.
3. WR Darren Carrington III- Oregon
The Saints have been mum on how they see Carrington fit in the offense this year prior to the draft, but due to the amount of time on the field in the preseason, you can bet Carrington will be active with the offense. One of he most "balanced" WR in the draft, we expected Carrington to be a top 15 WR his year. However , - broken collarbone and expected 6 week recovery time may quell these expectations for his year .
4.RB Wayne Gallman- Clemson
Galllman saw plenty of work in the preseason, showing off his speed and elusiveness. The Saints backfield is wide open with aging Spiller not expected to hold on to the #2 spot behind Ingram this season.
Expectations for the Saints are not high this season in the strong NFC South, but behind Veteran leadership, some developing new talent, and a patent owner... look for the Saints to play spoiler this season while being a strong contender next year.
