Glen Cieske

All-Star
Mississippi State signs their first 2 of the year.

Stephens is a do-it-all back out of Detroit, he will see the field immediately and coach Cieske expects him to make an impact right away.

Williams will take over kicking duties as soon as he enrolls at MSU, his big leg is something that cannot be ignored.

TCU Recruiting Report

The Horned Frogs are rolling along at 6-2 and are ranked in the Top 25 for the first time in 4 years. The success on the field is translating on the recruiting trail as the Frogs are currently ranked 35th in recruiting behind Alabama. Here is a look at who TCU has gained commitments from so far.

Aaron Robinson, HB - 5'9" 193 - Azle, TX - *****

Possesses good speed and above average athletic ability. Can accelerate through the hole and has the speed to reach the perimeter on sweeps and tosses. Does a good job of evading defenders and can make people miss in the open field. Can break the occasional tackle but is more suited for making plays in space. Does not have great size but has shown the ability to absorb punishment. One would think his skills would translate into an effective receiver but has below average skills in that area. Mostly a misdirection type runner who also excels at returning kicks.

Joe Grimes, MLB - 5'11" 239 - Georgetown, TX - ***

Very good all around backer with well rounded skills. Has very good size for the position and good strength. Can deliver punishing tackles and is a solid hit and wrap tackler also. Very good in pursuit and can play sideline to sideline. Is able to shed blocks and make plays in the running game. Also possess above average skills as a pass rusher and can be used to blitz or line up on the line. Has good speed and can stay step-for-step with most tight ends and running backs. Not a highly recruited prospect but one that has the potential to develop into a star at the next level.

Reggie Davis, OT - 6'5" 291 - Friendswood, TX - ***

Is solid but unspectacular. Is a solid drive blocker but doesn't possess the size or strength to overpower larger linemen. Is not a great athlete and can get beat to the edge in pass protection. Should develop into a decent depth player but doesn't expect to make an impact as a starter.

Reggie Bailey, WR - 6'7" 222 - Dallas, TX - ***

Committed to TCU over hometown rival SMU. Has very good speed. Placed in the state track meet in both the 200 and 400 meters. Once he reaches top speed he is hard to catch. However he does take some time to build speed. More fast than quick. Doesn't have elite moves in open field. Mostly a deep ball option. Is not consistent as a receiver but flashes the capability to make spectacular one-handed catches. His size also allows him to be an effective receiver in the red zone. Runs clean routes and can create separation on double moves.

Ronald Robinson, TE - 6'4" 256 - Round Rock, TX - ***

Has decent size and show the ability to grab balls in traffic. Is not an elite receiver though and could be a liability as an every down tight end. Is an above average blocker but lacks exceptional footwork. Wood be an adequate #2 tight end who can be a target in the red zone.

Charles Thomas, C - 6'2" 317 - Texas City, TX - ***

Very good size which helps him absorb defenders at the point of attack. Has good but not great strength. Is solid in both run and pass blocking. Not a mauler but doesn't just play with finesse either.

Reggie Roberton, OG - 6'1" 268 - Coppell, TX - ** (Juco)

Undersized for the a lineman at the next level but makes up for it with tremendous strength. Was the state power-lifting champion in high school. Attended Blinn Junior College where he excelled as a pass blocker. Is a good athlete for his size and uses his technique to stay inside of rushers. Is an effective run blocker as well. Not overly powerful as a drive blocker but can create holes. Does an effective job on pulls and traps. Could be a starter right away.

Blake Sparks, PK - 6'2" 205 - Haltom City, TX - **

Has a powerful leg and is capable of hitting at 50 yards. Can drive the ball deep on kickoffs as well. Lacks consistency though. Can make a 45-yarder and then miss a 27-yarder. Has the leg to be an elite kicker if he can develop better concentration and become more consistent.

Patrick Hall is a small, but explosive back out of Tustin, CA. He was highly recruited from schools out of the MWC, including University of New Mexico, University of Nevada in Las Vegas, Hawaii, and San Jose State University. Other schools that sought after hall were Washington State University, and Tulane. UNLV came up the winner in landing Hall. Hall is a speedster who can cut in and out of lanes, find the holes, and get up the field quick. He will redshirt his first year while Watkins, Ajeigbe, and Whitley play their Senior year. After that the starting job will be between Sr HB Robert Blair, and FR RS HB Patrick Hall. Looking from here into the future, it looks as if Hall will be Blair's backup until he graduates, then this team is Hall's. Coach Gump wants hall to sit out his first year to get some receiving basics down along with his explosive running, once that is done Patrick Hall will be unstoppable.

UNLV has only signed 4 recruits this year, but they await week 13, their next home game vs Wyoming. They have 14 recruits lined up to attend that game, and hopefully they can land at least 12 of them.
