Washington falls to 1-1 on the season.

Quick Nuggets:

  • The Washington Offense simply had no answer for the Rams defense which provided very little separation to allow the Washington receivers an opportunity to get open.
  • Jordan Reed was the lone exception, and most of his yards came on a screen play which resulted in him hurdling over downed teammates to the end zone(Highlight below)
  • On the other side of the spectrum The Washington Defense which was very good in week 1 simply had no answer for the "Shake-in and Bakin" of Denard Robinson. Robinson, who was just picked up by the Rams this week ran for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns, with a long of 39 yards.
  • The game was still within reach at 27-20 in the 4th quarter when on a 3rd and 22 play, a Washington defender made a horrible move and caused pass interference on an incomplete pass which resulted in an automatic first down for the Rams leading to the eventual touchdown to put the game away.
Injuries:
  • Washington was battered and beaten in this game with several players missing time on the sideline.
  • The big injury however may be the broken ribs suffered by Josh Doctson on a play eerily similar to the off-ball play that Terrelle Pryor also broke his ribs on in week 1. A blow for Washington as Doctson & Pryor were both expected to contribute heavily in this offense.
"We heard that"

  • "We were simply out played today. Full credit to the coaching staff of the Rams who clearly had their players ready to greet the home crowd and send them home happy." Said Redskins coach Jay Gruden after the game.
  • "We simply had no answer for him. We would try to contain the outside and he would run down our throats, when we contained the inside, well...you seen...he's fast!. At one point I was hoping our guys would step on his shoe laces and trip the man!" ---Washington Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky on Denard Robinson.
  • "We will be watching game tape on the flight back home, and you bet your bottom dollar that we will come prepared next week against Oakland." Redskins coach Jay Gruden's final statements.
