The New York Jets fans are a buzz! The team finishes the first quarter of games this season at 3-1, a drastic change since the 1-3 start of the season before. Everyone is praising the new signings and changes that new owner and GM Sam Hinkie has manufactured. This teams offense and defense has been much improved and ranking very well overall. Let's start with the defense, as that was an area Todd Bowles never brought together. The numbers say the defense is middle of the league, however, that is after getting roasted by the 3-1 Chicago Bears. Matthew Stafford had a field day with the secondary who did not look ready. Before that the defense was top 10 in yards total, currently are only giving up 63.8 rushing yards a game, becoming a truly elite rush defense. The defense is a game removed from being a top 10 defense and hopes it regains its form over the next several games.

The offense has been the star of this righted ship. Top 10 in offense, this unit has been breathed new life by veteran quarterback Tony Romo and a gluttony of picks spent on offense during the draft. Tony Romo is posting top 5 in yards, top 5 in touchdowns and top 3 in passer rating. He has been more than impressive and is leading the team to victories. Romo is putting up 1125 yards, 10 touchdowns 4 interceptions and a passer rating of 134.0. He is on pace for 4500 yards this season, the most he has had in a long time. The rest of the passing offense has been impressive too. Long time veteran receiver Brandon Marshall at the time of this article was leading the league in receiving yards and has looked as dangerous as he's ever been. He's showing strong with 17 catches, 365 yards and 3 touchdowns. Not too far behind him is rookie sensation and deep threat Curtis Samuel with 11 catches for 361 and 2 touchdowns. He's been more than a surprise coming from the 3rd round to deliver right away. Todd Dishman has been quoted to saying he deserves a larger part of the offense after handling the responsibilities he's already been given. As with the theme this year, another veteran signing, Victor Cruz, has been very good as the number 2 receiver outside. He has 13 catches for 155 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The rushing game has not been as impressive this season, especially considering the big splash the team made in the running back department. Saquon Barkley is only been able to average 3.5 yards a carry but that has been on the rise. The rest of the team isn't doing much better. Highly anticipated free agent power back Lorenzo Talioferro has been disappointing as well. The team as a whole has to do better, but the team has taken steps to fix that by trading for veteran lineman Rodney Hudson. He will provide immediate impact for the unit that has averaged 86.5 yards a game. They have continued to pound the rock despite not averaging a lot doing it.

This team has high hopes, and is currently locked in as the division leader at 3-1. With a solid next month the team could streamline this early success into a playoff berth. The fans are excited and so the should be. Watch out for those J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!
