Taking over in NY midway through the 2015 season ,the jets ending the season at 4-12. Where most owners would have begun to firing the entire coaching staff, new owner Cnote decided to stick with what was in play for his 2nd season to see what exactly needed to change.
Immediately he knew that at key positions ,mainly qb and rb,needed change. The gm and coaching staff decided to go with oline help in the 1st rnd seeing the line was getting old ,so they drafted LT P.James but moved him to the right side of the line to fill a void that was caused by free agency. Then lucked up and drafted the potential franchise qb Nolan Harris in the 2nd rnd but he missed the first 7 weeks of the season due to a freak injury in the preseason. Then to add free agent signing of Ronnie Hillman who did marvelous rushing for over 1250 yrds replacing Chris Ivory who took a big contract in Dallas. The jets ended up going 8-8 in yr 2 barely missing the playoffs. The whole league is seeing the Jets growth.
"It's all a growing process" stated the owner in a press conference. "We expect to get better by the year. I know you don't just buy a team and take then to the promise land.you have build the team in your vision to turn things around,so as of now I am happy with the progression. Next year maybe diffrent, playoffs or bust and spring cleaning will begin with the coaching staff if need be."
Sound like the jets know where they stand with the owner and he will not budge. "Good season but we can do better" says Cnote. So as the offseason approaches NY players and fans are ready for the jets breakout year.....
