Green Wave 2018 Preview

Starter

Tulane enters this season the reigning BIG 12 champions. They did so behind a very experienced team. This season will be different. Coach Wessells is a man that believes in and it shows with a top 5 defense in all categories every season and second defense coordinator moving on to a better job. This team is much younger then the team from a year ago but much more talented. Will it take them time to mature or will they make a statement this year. Review by position:

Offense
QB- Brewer SO(RS) 79. He got some playing time last season when the game was under control. he is a decent QB with above average arm strength and accuracy. He lacks the fire power you expect from a top program. Tulane is one of the up and coming programs. With the defense this team has been able to provide he will just have to protect the ball.

HB- Lundy FR(RS) 83- He is a good all around back. He was one of the stars of Tulane's #6 recruiting class a year ago. He is a power back with 90 speed. He will be looking to carry the weight left by Badie last season. Badie lead the conference in yards the last 2 seasons. This is a position Wessells relies heavily on. Will Lundy be up for the challenge.

FB- Motley SO 72- Also a new face to the starting line up. He also got minimal time last season but some experience is better then none. Decent speed and good size to block for Lundy.

TE- Washingotn SR 85- 4 year starter here. Brewer will be relying on him to be a 3rd down threat and Lundy will be looking for good blocks to get to the outside.

WR- Davis SR(RS) 81 Whitaker SO(RS) 78- The WR group consist of 1 SR 5 SO and 2 FR. They have a mix of speed and size. this group will be a force to reckon with in years to come but has room to grow for now.

OL- 1 SR(RS) 3 SO(RS) 1 FR(RS)- This group is more talented then the group that left them behind. But this will be the first season that 4 of them are seeing playing time. How long will it take for them to play as a unit. The unit is huge though they average 6-6 341. Talk about moving a mountain.

DEFENSE this is where I get excited.

DE White FR(RS) 83 McMahon FR(RS)81- both lighting fast off the end and decent size to stop the run as well. Tulane is becoming a Defense school for recruits. Just hope their inexperience won't let them make mistakes.

DT Hooper SR(RS) 86 Campbell SR(RS) 83- Both returning starters from last season. Both are big run stopping DT. They were a big contributor to the #2 rushing defense last season.

LB- Lewis SR(RS) 78 Ervin SR(RS) 83 Harris FR(RS) 83- Ervin was All american last season and looks to repeat this season. Lewis moved from MLB to OLB to give young talent another year to mature.

CB- Robinson SR(RS) 85 Allen SR(RS) 82- Despite both being SR this is their first season starting. Both are extremely fast and good awareness.

S- Sanders SO(RS) 80 West JR(RS) 84- Both are fresh faces as well. West is expected to be a smash mouth kind of guy that RB will fear.

Overall we start 8 SR 1 JR 7 SO 5FR. All 8 SR have someone waiting to take their place. Tulane will be in the running for BIG 12 championship for years to come. Who knows maybe even a NC shot. Only time will tell.
