Game of the Week Season 5

Week 1
Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0) @ Buffalo Bills (0-0)
Last time these two teams met the Bills walked away the victors in a low scoring game 10-13, but this is a new season. Jacksonville had the objectively had the better off-season due to more cap room and an aggressive strategy in the draft and they will be looking for revenge. Buffalo on the other hand no matter what the circumstances has been one of the premier teams in the AFC. They have been to the last two AFC Championship games and are looking to start carving out a path to the Super Bowl tonight. The Bill's old guard has become old and they are going to need to start relying younger talent to win while the Jaguars need to find a way to beat a longstanding AFC front-runner.

The playoff game should of belonged to the Jags twice when they missed field goals by inches on both tries. I didn't notice the Bills pick up anyone of real interest, and I think the Jags picked up some talent both in FA and in the draft. So I think he gets the payback but it's close again. Jags 30-27

georgiafan

The Bills had a quiet offseason since they didn't have much cap room. While the jags added big pieces like Perriman (96 spd) and CB Waynes (95 spd) and traded up into the top 10 of the draft. On paper the Bills are lacking playmakers which is rare as HB Mccoys speed and agility are now down to mid 80''s. But I still think somehow the bills find a way to win in a close one.

The Jags are a great team, but I am going to go with who I think is the better play caller rather than the more talented team. It will be close and low scoring and honestly will come down to turnovers and little mistakes. It is a good matchup and I can't wait to see it.

Jags take this game. They lost a heartbreaker in the divisional round last year, and probably should've won. They've had this date marked in red on their calendar since last year. The bills are predictable in their offense runs, watch for the jags to get on a roll and not slow down. I see the Jags winning 35-17.

I'm going with the Bills here they have an explosive offense and will pick up where they left off last year. Bills 28-17

Week 2
Buffalo Bills (0-1) @ Dallas Cowboys (1-0)
The perennial top seed contenders vs the defending NFC Champions. The Cowboys have home field advantage, but with some key injuries are going to find themselves in some serious trouble this week. The Bill though have shown some weakness lately falling to the Jaguars in week one. Nobody doubts that the Bills are one of the best teams in the league, but it is starting to become more apparent that they are beatable. It will take the Cowboys controlling the tempo of the game on offense and keeping Kellen Moore comfortable to win this one. They have the coaching ability to win this one it is just a question of personnel this week.

I am going to go against the grain here and pick the Cowboys. I think they have this odd ability to always play to the level of whoever they are facing. They need to end up +2 in turnovers I think, but they can win this one even without Dez. In this league you need to be a great player to make it to the Super Bowl and the Bills are still getting shut out of the big show after their 2015 season.

The Cowboys already have had the injury bug bite so they are banged up coming into this one. The Cowboys would love a win here but Buffalo is seeking revenge after an openin week loss. Put your money on Buffalo in this one. Bills romp 31-17

I'm gonna go with the Bills despite my disappointment in week 1.. The Cowboys are talented but already banged up and the Bills are coming off a tough loss, they will be out to prove their dominance in this game.
Bills 35 Boys 14

The Cowboys will be playing without dez Bryant and and a Nickle CB vs a team that likes to pass the ball. Also the bills are coming off a loss and the odds of them losing 2 In a row are very slim. Watkins has a big speed advantage over the Cowboys #1 CB. Bills by 17 here

BigTexas18 (1-0)
1280px-Buffalo_Bills_logo.png
No Dez = No win. Bills are top contenders in the AFC which tends to have a better record over the NFC. Bills will walk with this one. 28-10

Week 3
Carolina Panthers (2-0) @ Washington Redskins (2-0)
I can't tell what's the bigger story. Juke packing up and moving to a rival team or Johnny Football looking like he is finally getting on track. Both teams are unexpected 2-0 after the end of last season. Both have their own stud 1st round draft pick (Cory Austin WR for the Panthers and Langford Swain MLB for the Redskins) to start building a dynasty around. Neither team is perfect. The Panthers' offensive line leaves a lot to be desired while the Redskins' backfield, including the quarterback, is full of what would be second string players for most teams. There really is a lot of questions surrounding this game, but what could be the deciding factor is Jukemwr21's experience at top level play compared to oBUCKNUTo. Let's see what px1 has to say.

So everyone seems to think that Johnny still can't keep possession, but honestly I don't think the Redskins start winning without that. Turnovers will ruin any game and not just the big ones. He has thrown 2 picks in 2 games which is pretty much average. I think the Redskins are on the up and with some good d line play they can take this one.

georgiafan (1-1)
large (1).png
Redskins are off to a good start with a huge win over the bears week 1. The panthers haven't had a good test yet. The redskins defense has been playing good, butI still think panthers win big by 14 here because turnovers by Johnny.

Majesty95 (1-0)
large (1).png
This is a toss up game for me. Both teams have surprised in the early going. Johnny Maziel has been playing well and has the team ready to compete in the NFC East. I think the Panthers might be a bit too much though. I think this game is going to be close but I'll take the Panthers by 7 or less.

Tigers20 (1-1)
large (1).png
Panthers win this game by 10. Even though Johnny Football seems to be off to a good start I feel he tanks in this game. The secondary for the Panthers will be waiting on those miscues and will capitalize.

BigTexas18 (2-0)

Johnny will lose the game here. Late crucial turnover. Panthers will end up winning 28-17.

Once again I will go against the grain which this week I really don't understand. Titans have the roster and GA is going to force this into trench warfare. Watch for the Titans to control the tempo with a strong run game and then all they need to do is cause one bad mistake and they can sit back. Don't forget they have 2 premier WR now.

Majesty95 (2-0)
large (1).png
The prevailing thought is that the Panthers are going to walk over the Titans. However, this is a new Panthers owner and the Titans have had some big games recently. I still think Carolina wins, but I look for a competitive game where a costly mistake late could swing it either way.

Tigers20 (2-1)
large (1).png
Well this is a powerhouse meeting so early in the season!!! I can't wait! I feel the Titans put together some solid pieces over the last 2 seasons with their roster. The Panthers on the other hand are under new ownership with work in progress.

I'm really torn on this game although talent wise the Titans have this game dominated. The Panthers have flown out of the gates this season so far and so have the Titans.

I feel turnovers will play a role in this one and the Titans will come up on the wrong side of that differential. Panthers in a close one 24-20.

BigTexas18 (3-0)
large (1).png
Panthers are on a roll. Cam and co. are looking like they can't be stopped. Titans will test their run defense and put up over 150 yards on the ground, but ultimately if the ball gets in Gilbert's hands late in the game turnovers will be a factor.

Panthers 31-24

Note: This is a abridged version due to scheduling

WEEK 5
Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears

This is a storied matchup and rivalry in PX1, not only do these teams hate each other in real life, but it has become an even better rivalry in PX1. The Packers have yet to get the best of the Bears, and for the first time has a clear chance to Win this division after that magnificent finish against the Eagles last week. Jeter and the offense are rolling, steam rolling even, opponents into the gridiron. Just last week they put 44 on a pretty talented Bucs defense. Is this Tigers20 's year to prevail or does the crown stay in Chi-Town with Paytonno1son?

Now for the expert picks:

JukemWR21

12_large.png

I think the Packers magic continues. Tigers is riding high off his surprising win last week. Lockdown play from Scott a long with a good game from his RB delivers him a win to take back to the frozen tundra. 21-14

Georgiafan

chicago%20bears%20293%20logo.jpg

I pick against the packers every game so hey why change now. The packers are obviously a much improved team and are coming off a huge win vs the eagles. The running game has been huge for them to take some pressure off both the QB and the play caller. But the Bears are battle tested and somehow always seem to find a way to beat the packers. I like bears in a close one

Majesty95

chicago%20bears%20293%20logo.jpg

I like what the Packers were able to do against the Eagles. That being said, this game is on the road so they won't have the Lambeau mystique helping them. I think this is going to be a competitive game, but I think the Packers come up just short. Bears win 23-20 and the Pack throw an INT late to seal their fate.

Imperfect611

chicago%20bears%20293%20logo.jpg

This game is always competitive, but at the end of the day the Bears seem to have it on lock-down. The Packers will be in the playoffs this year, as a wildcard. Jeter is just too good at reading coverages and I haven't seen enough from the Packer's defense to justify them winning.

Week 7

Boys Vs. Skins

This is a rivalry as old as time, and until recently neither of these teams were really capable of producing more than 8 wins. This season, along with last season are a bit different. The Cowboys went to and lost the Superbowl against a tough competitive Browns team. We know the talent is there, what we don't know is where it is this season as the Cowboys sit at a dismal 2-3-0. They are currently battling a whole mess of injuries, and are in desperate need of a turn around.

The Redskins look to be this year's dark horse candidate. Since firing off the season at an awesome 2-0 they have since gone 2-2 losing to the Panthers and Bills both really their only test of the season outside of the win against the struggling but strong bears team. Though there has been a lot of doubt with Johnny Football at the helm and the media and fan base begging for the Rookie Brenden Boyd to become the starter, management is hell-bent on keeping Johnny in there at QB. We'll see how long he can tread water.

PX1 Expert Picks

georgiafan - The cowboys are banged up still and the redskins are playing really good now both of his losses game vs elite teams. I like the redskins to win by 7 because Dri Archer scores on a long TD

Imperfect611 - The Cowboys were supposed to be weaker without their starting quarterback and best WR, but they have the number 1 passing attack in the league. Dez is back and the Cowboys owned this division in the past. I expect a good game from Dallas this week over the Redskins.

Tigers20 -
Much improved on both sides of the ball. The skins Defense has been a huge factor this year and will be too much for the boys. Sheard as the current sack leader in the league will look to continue the domination from the end position. Skins- 28 Boys - 10

BigTexas18 - Short and sweet! America's Team!! 24-21

Jukemwr21 - Boys get back on track here and win by 7. 28-21

Titans @ Jaguars

Once upon a time these 2 teams couldn't sell out there stadiums, the Colts and Texans were the pride of the AFC South.
Things have changed now and these are the two top dogs of not only the AFC South, but the AFC entirely. The Jags are looking for revenge this time around, after losing earlier in the year. The thing Jacksonville has struggled with is inconsistency, they need to turn that around if they want to make the playoffs. The AFC is red hot with talent this year as the top 6 teams are a combined 37-5 so there is no room for error there. Aaron Rodgers has to come out on point tonight, and that vaunted defense has to be dominant.

The Titans need this one less that the Jags, nonetheless the drive is still there. Titans only loss to the Panthers this year still has them fuming mad and they've burned through every opponent since. The ground game is averaging over 200 yards per game, which is unheard of in today's pass heavy league. I think the Titans are every bit as dominant as any other AFC top team, but sometimes lack in confidence. It may be a poker face though as even though they appear to lack that confidence through press conferences and talk around the league they continue to bully every team they face. Calvin Johnson and Keenan Allen will have to step up here to finish off the JAX sweep.

majesty95 - This is too early in the season for the final match-up between these two teams. The Titans won the first meeting 35-29 at home. While they are still hot, J-ville is coming off a huge win over Tampa Bay. The home field proves to be the difference and the Jaguars win a squeaker 27-24.

Tigers20 - Although the Titans have played like true Titans thus far this season I am leaning to Jags. They have had a rough start this season but I feel they start getting things turned around this week. The Jags lost this last head to head matchup, but will come out in this game with lots to prove. I have Jags winning 28-21

JukemWR21 - I don't know whats going on with the Jags, but they better figure it out. I think they do that in this one, by getting back to air supremacy, and dominating the run. Jags win it 24-17 They need it more!

Week 9
Philadelphia Eagles (6-1) @ Washington Redskins (5-2)
The Eagles have been a surprise under new ownership. Majesty95 is always known as a legendary owner around here, but this team doesn't have the roster you would expect from a top tier team. It seems like they have gotten this far with a consistent offense and a deadly defense. Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks have been the standouts, but it hasn't been talent overpowering their opposition. It has been superior play calling.

Washington is a similar story. Every year they fall to the middle of the pack or bottom of the division, but this year they are contenders. With a win here they tie up the division and take the tiebreaker over the Eagles. Johnny and the boys finally came together this year and they took out the Cowboys and Bears, two former NFC Champions in the past two years. They had a bad game vs Carolina, but they still look strong. Just like the Eagles this team has been carried by their defense so look for a low scoring game unless the defenses pick up some points.

The redskins are improved but there win vs the bears and even the cowboys no longer looks as impressive as it did at the time. The eagles don't have the talent that the record shows but they are finding ways to win. Its going to be fun to see how Johnny responds after being on the cover of px1 weekly. Can he handle the pressure with most of the league watching? I like the eagles huge 27-10

Tigers20

1280px-Philadelphia_Eagles_primary_logo.png

The Eagles are flying high this year so far aside from their lone blemish delivered by the very talented Packers squad! That being said I don't see Johhny and the skins lowering the birds elevation this week. We all know what Johnny does with this attention he's been getting lately. Eagles win 24-10.

Jukemwr21

1280px-Philadelphia_Eagles_primary_logo.png

I think the talent is there for the Skins but not the coaching knowledge. Last time the Redskins faced a coach this good they got humiliated defensively, Their talent makes up for it here and its closer than you think. 31-28 Eagles

The Eagles are flying high and showing a lot of swagger at 6-1. The Skins, also, have proved to be a contender this year, which has surprised a few of us. Johnny still will have to prove to me he can win the big game before I pick him. With division title contention on the line, I'm taking Eagles. 28-17

Carolina Panthers (7-2) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (6-3)
The Ryan Brothers, the HaurghBowl, the Mannings, and now we have another family rivalry that will finally come to fruition. Juke's Carolina Panthers @ Blackhawk's Jaguars looks to be a game played for playoffs position and all of the bragging rights. Cam Newton is out, but Gordon can't be stopped. Aaron Rodgers looks as good as ever, but can't seem to get a hold of the division with a tough schedule. This is not just another game here at PX1 and everyone will be on the edge of the seats waiting to see how this plays out. Can the Panthers win without Supercam? Can the Jaguars rise up and be a true top team again? Can Norman hold Perriman? Who knows, but this game will finally match true PX1 family against each other.

Cam missing the game on paper is huge, but I had EJ Manuel last year and he played great for me so I don't think you will see a dropoff in production. The Jags schedule this year has been tougher then the panthers so I think they find a way to win by 3 points. Not sure if Norman can keep up with Perriman.

Tigers20

Jacksonville_Jaguars_2013_logo.png

The Panthers suffered the loss of their Super Cam with the broken wrist.. EJ will be a solid backup but will not have the presence Newton would. The Jags are a familiar but unfamiliar foe in this matchup and losing some tight games already this year will provide the extra spunk to come out with a squeaker win 20-17 Jags.

This is an interesting inter-family match-up. They haven't played in season that I can remember but am sure they have hundreds of games logged behind the scenes. I think this is going to be a classic battle. I like the Panthers explosiveness a little more on offense, even without Newton. I'll take the Panthers by 3 on the road.

EJ Manuel? He's just turrble! I don't care if you have one of the top rushing offenses (3rd rush in league) in the Panthers. Without Cam to throw the ball you just cant compete against Aaron Rodgers and the #1 point producing team in this league.

What is Melvin Gordon going to do when the Jags realize that EJ Manuel can't throw the ball and the box is stacked? He's going to shove his thumb in his ass and whistle dixey, that's what! The Jags don't need to be the best offense out there (ranked 21 in yards) because if they put up the points (and they can) they can do what is needed to win. EJ Manuel will cause 2+ turnovers, Jags win by a TD or more. This game would have been a slobber knocker before, but this week without Cam: It's just turrrble!

Browns Vs. Steelers

Two AFC powerhouses square off this week in one of the toughest divisions in the league. Both teams are coming in at 9-1 but who will leave 9-2? Browns upper management have turned Cleveland around for good I believe. They got a QB that can be trusted to go a long with the defense they've always had. Still riding high on that superbowl victory, the Browns will look to sweep the Steelers and take sole ownership of the division.

The Steelers have never looked better since coming under new ownership earlier this year. There defense is 1st in every category, except rushing; where they place at the horrible position of 5th place. They need this game to keep their division title hopes alive. If the offense can get out in front early look for this defense to play lockdown, and lights out all night long.

The Steelers are coming off a very impressive win vs the chargers and opened some eyes up in his first test of the year. The Browns have also had a soft schedule but we know about his team and roster are one of the best. I just don't see how Steelers LB and CB can keep up with all the weapons the browns have. I like Browns by 2 TD's

Pit has the best defense in the league but I think they'll bite too hard on Cleveland's very top tier run game, opening up the air for the cloud dwelling Josh Gordon. PIT can't possibly cover all of Clevelands bases and although the Browns don't have the #1 defense, it's still top notch. The browns will win, +4.5 and the fact that I said that is just turrble. Furthermore, the fact that this league has allowed Cleveland to become a powerhouse is even more turrble. 31 teams in this league disgust me, turrble!

Honestly I'm split since steelers returned to their winning ways they've been unstoppable. You can't discount what the Browns have been able to accomplish either. This will boil down to defense I think the Steelers win it by 3...17-14

Cleveland Browns (10-1) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (8-3)
Hardnose football comes to Jacksonville with the Browns to face off against one of the most efficient offenses the NFL has ever seen. The Jaguars had a rough start to the season, but now they look like they could ride their current win streak to the super bowl. Aaron Rodgers is looking to make another run at a Super Bowl and the best way to do it is to take out the current champions. The Browns still look strong as ever. They are currently expected to hold the number one seed again this year and they have one of the most dangerous run games in the league. The defenses are about the same throughout the season as far as points allowed goes so expect this game to be won by the playmakers.

This game will be a toss up. The winner will not take it by more than 4 points and scoring will come down to who can go the longest without making a mistake. The Browns top tier running game will edge out the Jags who hold an superior pass game. The Browns hold a better defensive team and should be able to edge out the Jags, leading to another Cleveland win. That's just turrble. Some one stop these Browns!

Studley021

Jacksonville_Jaguars_2013_logo.png

This is a tough one to call. The Browns are the defending Super Bowl champs and do not look like they have lost a step at all. The Jaguars have been through a gauntlet this year in terms of their schedule and are 8-3 going into this game. I believe the key to the game is the Jag's linebackers holding the number 2 rushing offense at bay, which is a tall task. The x-factors on offense in this game will be Julius Thomas and Breshad Perriman (if Rodgers stays upright) as the Jags sneak out a victory at home over the defending champs 21-17.

I think Browns take this one but it all depends on Rodgers and which form of him shows up. They got lucky this past week as Rodgers completed the 3rd hail mary walk off of his career. Luck runs out this week, and the Jags fall 28-21

Starter
Week 15
Carolina Panthers (9-4) @ Atlanta Falcons (7-6)
Cam is coming to Atlanta, but Matt Ryan is leading the team with the starter out until the end of the regular season. This is the same owner as the Bucs from last year and nobody forgets this rivalry. This time though Juke can stop Studley from even making the post-season. History shows that Juke wins the regular season, but Studley finds a way to win when it matters. It has been an off year for the Falcons though. Some say it was a tough schedule while others suggest that they never really got off the ground. The Panthers are not perfect either. They show the potential to be champions, but can't seem to win consistently. We all hope that both teams show up to their full potential. Honestly though with how much these teams hate each other, expect them both to be ready to fight.

Both teams have been up and down this year so its hard to get a read on them this year. Its just hard to pick the Falcons with Brewster out and Matt Ryan had 4 interceptions last game. Both teams like to run the ball so turnovers will be key. I like the Panthers by 7

PANTHERS WILL ROLL!! Ryan will be a mess and the Falcons will not stop this passing attack. Cam Newton seems to be settling back in and will lead the team to NFC South Crown!
Panthers 38 Falcons 14.

It's going to be a repeat of week 9 where Atlanta gave up 124 rush yards to the potent Carolina run game (3rd in NFL). Atlanta doesn't have the offense to outscore Carolina nor do they have the defense to hold back ace boogie and squad. Atlanta has more on the line in this game and will play with a lot of heart, but it wont be enough: Panthers +10. Ted Brewster throws a pick during a short lived comeback, just turrrble.

This is a huge rivalry game and the Falcons got the best of Juke when he was running the Bucs. Studley put him out of the playoffs 2 years in a row. Now Juke may have a different team, but that sour taste is still fermenting like rotten potatoes at the bottom of the pantry. These guys always play close games and this time I think the Panthers pull it out in the end.

Tennessee Titans 12-3

Denver Broncos 12-3
We have a doozy for you tonight. Two playoff teams go at it. The 12-3 Tennessee Titans square off against the 12-3 Denver Broncos. Winner will have home field advantage and a first round bye in the playoffs as the #2 seed. Loser get the #3 seed and will get thrown into the AFC playoff gauntlet. We are about to take a look at each team. Only one will prevail tonight. Who will it be??

Tennessee Titans (georgiafan)
Tennessee comes in at 12-3 on the year. They will be playing in Mile High, and are 4-3 on the road this year. You can tell they have struggled when they don't have the home crowd behind them. It's an 18 hour drive from Nashville to Denver, will the Titans fanbase make the trip to see their beloved team in a huge game? The Titans come in with the #1 rush offense, and 5th best offense overall. Everyone knows that this run game is a behemoth. Darrell Jordan has led that surge with 1,632 yards this season and 16 TD's. Jordan averages 108 yards per game. Behind him you have Kadeem Dixon, who is no slouch. He has put up 682 with 8 TD's. We can expect to see both of these backs doing what they do. The Titans have arguably one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, so even getting to touch these half backs should be a reward. Other than the running game, this defense has carried them to the position they are in tonight. Titans come in with the #3 ranked overall defense, only giving up 3,564 yards on the year. They rank #4 in pass defense and third in rush defense. They also rank #2 in points allowed on the year with 235. If this defense can force a couple of turnovers, look for the offense to really control the game. Oh, and by the way, their rookie QB, Garret Griffin has thrown for 25 TD's and has an NFL best 122.2 QBR among starters, and is a shoe-in to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Denver Broncos (Imperfect611)
Now let's see the other side of the ball. The home team, the 12-3 Denver Broncos. This is where things get interesting. Denver has just come of a huge 4 game suspension for violating league rules. They lost Matt Barkley and Adric Austin in that time. Barkley is back this week, and owner, Alex Imperfect, has not been quiet leading up to this game. He has vowed to beat the Titans and beat them bad. Denver is 6-1 at home which is obviously in their favor. Despite the great 12-3 record, they don't have flashy team stats like the Titans do. They are ranked just 14th in total offense with #13 pass offense and #16 rush offense. They're numbers are right at the league mid range level. On defense they are the #12 ranked defense with the #14 pass defense, and #7 rush defense. They have had a great rush defense all year but have their hands full. Despite the mid range numbers, they constantly find ways to win, and that is what is most important. A big factor in that is they are #4 in the league in interceptions. They take the ball away with the best of them and give it to their offense who plays well together. Barkley has had a great year, out of nowhere too. Barkley is sporting a 104.8 QBR with 2,590 yards 22 TD and only 10 INT. That ratio is up with the best of them. Barkley's success has stumped a lot of people this year, but he has a weapon that nobody has been able to stop. WR Demryius Thomas has an NFL best 90 receptions, and ranks 4th in receiving yards with 1,161. Can anybody cover this guy??? One last thing to know that will factor into this game is Adric Austin is still serving suspension, so you will not see him tonight. Mark Ingram will get the bulk of the carries. On the year he averages 4.0 yards per carry and has 8 TD's. I think anyone would take production like that anyday, so maybe Austin being out will be a non factor!
