Welcome to the Fins Fanzone, your source for everything involving the Miami Dolphins! New owner Dan Bmorehokie is looking to take over the AFC East (and beyond) alongside John Harbaugh. The Coach and Owner collaborated on potential free agent signings in order to fill out the roster for a competitive upcoming season.

Upon review of the roster, most position groups contained quality but were in need of quantity in the form of depth. With Ryan Tannehill, Jordan Cameron, Ndamukong Suh, and Reshad Jones the team is equipped with talented leaders on both sides of the ball. Depth is the biggest need to be addressed this offseason, though a few positions could benefit from upgrades.

Position Changes:

• Ndamukong Suh (99 LE -> 99 DT)
• Earl Mitchell (87 RE -> 81 DT)
• Terrence Fede (84 RE -> 84 LE)
• LeGarrette Blount (78 HB -> 93 FB)

With only one active DT and four talented ends at their disposal, the staff decided to shift 2 of the stronger ends to tackle. Suh, a natural fit anywhere on the defensive line, is still one of the best in the league after the switch. With the two remaining top defensive ends on the right side of the depth chart, Terrence Fede was swapped to the left side, leaving talented youngster Deandre Manning at RE. LeGarrette Blount is a known bruiser around the league (and at Boise State) making the move to FB an easy one to make. His size and strength make him a formidable plow in front of Christine Michael.

• RB (Third String following Blount's move to Fullback)
• Tight End (Second/Third String)
• Offensive Line Depth
• Defensive Line Depth
• Corner Backs (2 on active roster)

Free Agent Signings:

• Case Russell, ROLB, 24 Years Old, 60 OVR
• Keith Rivers, LOLB, 31 Years Old, 81 OVR
• Jonathan Martin, LT, 27 Years Old, 71 OVR
• Vinston Painter, LG, 27 Years Old, 72 OVR

A good start to free agency filling needs at outside linebacker and at both offensive tackle and guard. Rivers will be a good veteran backup who will likely see time across all 3 linebacker positions. The team will continue to be active in filling needs through free agency as well as the upcoming draft.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but per the rules, HB's are not allowed to be moved to FB's. You can submit your case to us (Matt and I) via PM and we can look at it, but typically its only done to exploit FB runs were are pretty hard to stop with real FB's. Not saying that is your intention, but that's why the rule is in place. Just FYI.

A great end to free agency sees the Dolphins acquire all of their top targets, most notably a top tier fullback and RG (who will likely move to RT). Other important depth signings at CB, on both sides of the line, and adding another athletic TE to the receiving core round out the signings. The team is looking forward to adding some talent and youth through the upcoming draft!

Trade Recap:

The Dolphins elected to trade away their 1st round pick (14th overall pick) for a 4th round pick and a young corner from the 49ers, Orleans Lane. Lane, 22, is already a starter-caliber corner with potential to be a #1 shutdown guy (fast progression). This was also high on the needs list for the roster.

Owner Bmorehokie was out on his yacht in Biscayne Bay during the draft and had an intern take over his role for the night. Unfortunately, for Fins faithful, it showed in the lack of talent selected (outside of 2nd round pick). The upside of the draft was in the trade pre-draft landing a starting corner at the age of 22.
