Falcons Offense Impresses in First Game

Football season is finally here, and the 2016 Atlanta Falcons officially have their first victory of the year. While it may only be preseason, this game serves as a confidence booster for a Falcons' offense that had no trouble moving the ball on the Washington Redskins.

Although Atlanta didn't play their stars on offense (Matt Ryan, Devonta Freeman, Julio Jones), the offense didn't miss a beat no matter who was in at quarterback. Matt Schaub, Sean Renfree, and Matt Sims all recorded QB ratings over 100, as together they managed to put up a combined 291 passing yards.

One concern for this team has to be the lack of a rushing attack, as Atlanta only managed to gain 38 yards on the ground. That should change once Devonta Freeman returns to the lineup.

It wasn't all this offense in this game however, as the defense stepped up with two big interceptions, in the first and fourth quarters, that led to 10 Falcons' points.

Overall it was a great debut for this Atlanta team. The offense didn't miss a beat without their stars, and the defense did enough to hold onto the lead.

Atlanta is now 1-0 in the preseason, and will travel to Cleveland next week to play the Browns.

Here are the highlights from this weeks game:
