HB Preview

Present

Last year the titans finished 26th in the NFL with 1,447 yards and 29th with only 6 TD's. If the px1 allows betting then you need bet every penny you have that both of those numbers will improve for 2 reasons. The first one is the new owner Georgiafan's desire to run the ball out of the I formation. The second reason is the yards that speedy rookie QB Marcus Mariota will gain due to his 88 speed even if they are just empty yards.

All of the pressure will be on 2nd year 2nd round HB Bishop Sankey. Last year as a rookie he had a disappointing rookie year with only 569 yards, 2 TD, and 3.7 Avg and 18 catches. Its a make or break year for Bishop and he must stay healthy and produce while teams stack the box with a rookie QB. Shoon Greene was cut this offseason so 5th round pick David Cobb will battle with Dexter Mccluster for the backup job. David is a big back at 5'11 229 pounds but its unknown what kind of ratings he will have. Mccluster is a vet who had close to 500 total yards last year but his lack of size and speed limits his upside.

Another young back that will go overlooked but shouldn't is FB Jalston Fowler a 4th round pick from Alabama who check in at 5'11 and 254 pounds. The new owner wants to run out of the I formation more so Fowlers blocking will be important. He could also get some goal line carries with the lack of size from Sankey and Mccluster. Another back on the roster is former UDFA Antonio Andrews. But they are lots of rumors flying around that Andrews will be cut for a vet HB with the favorite being Knowshon Moreno with his ties to the new management. A few more guys that will be in the mix or Pierre Thomas, Ahmad Bradshaw, Steven Jackson, Ray Rice and Peyton Hillis.

Future
Despite all of the young guys the future of the HB position will be one of the main focus in the offseason even if Sankey rushes for over 1,000 yards, The owner prefers a bigger back and Sankey is on the small side at 5'11 and 209 pounds. David Cobb has potential and we should know right away if he will be able to produce. Fowler will nail down the FB position for the next 5+ years. Mariotta will be a factor for years to come with his legs you don't want him running to much but down in the red zone he should be dangerous for years to come.

The Star - Marcus Mariota again
The unknown - David Cobb
Start packing your bags - Antonio Andrews
Offseason priority - Top Priority

Will Titans draft HB Darrell Jordan in the 1st round ?

If you have been paying attention then you know that the titans have switched to a power running scheme. There is only two small things standing in the way of building that and its a power HB and 3 starters on the line. So with this article we will take a look at HB Darrell Jordan and if he is a fit on the titans.

As we all know Bishop Sankey is going to get the first chance to be the starting HB. He doesn't fit what that team is looking for in a starting HB. but if he has good year could still be in the teams long term plans. Rookie David Cobb and 2nd year Terrence West will be in the mix for short yardage carries and they are both bigger backs. The team must add players at center, left guard and right tackle at some point in the offseason.

The college season has just started but at this point Darrell Jordan is the clear cut #1 HB in the class and the only player at that position that carries a 1st round grade. He fits the mold of what the team looks for as he is a power back and best suited for the scheme which the titans run. He is only 21 years old and has great size at 5'10 and 233 pounds and faced good competition playing for Nebraska. We will not know his exact speed and strength ratings till the combine. We aren't allowed to say what his grades are but one source told is that "it is solid across the board".

This is a weak HB class especially for power backs and the only other players are Kevin Hickman who doesn't have a draftable grade from Florida. David Dunbar who also doesn't have a draftable grade from Tennessee. Then projected 6th round Audre Frazier 5'10 232 pounds from Virginia Tech. If your looking at a few other names to write down that aren't perfect scheme fits then you have 2nd round Derron Briggs from USC and 3rd rounder Spencer Gardner from Arizona State.

A lot of fans don't want to see a HB drafted in the 1st round and say "that is like painting the porch while the foundation is falling in". Also we don't have a clue where the titans will be drafting if its top 15 then a HB is less likely then if they are drafting in the 20's. Some more names could unfold as the scouting process works its way out but at this point it may be Darrell Jordan or wait till year 2 to add the elite power back the team covets so much.

PS - in the future I will add pics to these but I didn't wanna wait to post this

Final 2015 HB Stats

Bishop Sankey 306 carries for 1,303 yards, 4.3 Avg, 11 TD, long 35, & 30 catches for 289 yards, 9.6 Avg,

Terrence West 109 carries for 420 yards, 3.9 Avg, 7 TD, long 12 & 4 catches for 32 yards

Marcus Mariota 53 for 292 yards, 5.5 Avg, 0 TD

Dexture Mccluster 4 carries for 15 yards

3 other players had 1 carry

Thoughts Sankey had a breakout year with 1,300 yards and 11 TD in the first year of the new ground and pound old school system. But of the top 7 rushes in the NFL he had the lowest average and only Jon Stewart was worst in the top 10 rushers thought that could have more to do with the OL then him. He has improved his overall ranking around 8 points and has over 4,000 xp to spend and I think even more could be coming in the offseason. Sankey will have to a better job of breaking tackles and not coming up short on 3rd and short something that happened far to often this year. West was the short yardage back and finished the year with 7 TD's. He is a solid player but is nothing to plan your offseason around. The biggest shock of the year was that rookie David Cobb didn't get a single carry this year. Mariota had a little under 300 yards rushing with pretty much all of them coming from having to run for his life due to do bad blocking on pass plays or on bootleg playactions where the defense left him wide open to run.

Jordan

If you are of a certain age and you hear the name Jordan then words like greatness, championships and the #23 come to mind. Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest athlete of all time. The titans are hoping there new HB with the same last name Jordan can accopmish a 3rd of what Michal did. Michael is the reason why Darrell wears the #23 even though they are not related.

Darrell comes from Nebraska where he stared alongside 1st round Lions TE Austin Walters and those two will square off on week #1. The owner/GM of the titans had this to say " he was the very first guy we scouted this year and right off the bat he was our #1 guy. We knew instantly that we wanted him as he is the perfect back for our offense. We never for a second wanted to draft anyone else he was always our #1 guy. We expect him to be come in and produce right away". Jordan was drafted with the 21st pick but most have him has the 10th overall guy in terms of pure talent. So anytime you can get that kind of value drafting in the 20's its a good pick. He is the perfect blend of size and speed for a big 233 pound back.

So instead of going on and on about how great and excited I am to have. I am going to do something a little different. I am going to post 4 HB's ratings and not put there name, size or empty/pointless ratings. All of these are bigger/elite backs. Post who you would want or how you would rank them and remember there isn't really a right or wrong answer. After i get a few comments I will post saying who is who.

2016 HB Preview

From the first day the owner said that he wanted to run the ball and last year Sankey went past expections with 1,300 yards. The team was interested in brining in Chris Ivory this offseason but ended up backing out of the race. It came as a mild surprise when they drafted Darrell Jordan (81 ovr) in the first round. But he wasn't the only HB that was drafted as a 4th round pick was spent on Kadeem Dixon (81 ovr).

We have spent a lot of time talking about 1st rounder Darrell Jordan who is a freak at 233 pounds 95 agility, 93 acceleration, 85 elusiveness and 88 trucking. He was the only player to score a perfect 8.0 at the NFL combine. It made some fans second guess the decision when Kadeem Dixon got into camp and looked very similar to Jordan. He has similar speed ratings for all 3 areas and even the same trucking rating with superstar development. He is 20 pounds smaller and will likely be the KR (92) and 3rd down back early on. Dixon isn't as good at fighting for extra yards as Jordan is. But Bishop Sankey isn't exactly chopped liver and also has a 81 rating though that is boosted up by is 94 confidence. He spent a lot of time working on his trucking (74) and fighting for extra yards (got the trait) and still has solid speed ratings (89,91,89).

They are 3 other HB's on the preseason roster in Dexter Mccluster, David Cobb and Terrence West. There was some talk that Mccluster could move to WR in the offseason but that isn't going to happen. He was only a KR last year and if he loses that job to Dixon then he has no reason to be on the roster. West (76 ovr) was the short yardage and goaline back last year with 7 TD's. Cobb (74 ovr) didn't get a single carry last year so its hard to know a lot about him but at 229 pounds he has the potential to be what West was last year and is 2 years younger. We expect the titans to keep 4 HB's and 1 FB but that's not a given.

Jalston Fowler (67 ovr) was suppose to be the FB of the future but the only started a handful of games last year. Vet John Kuhn (90 ovr) was brought in on a cheap deal and is a much better all around FB both with the ball in his hands and blocking.

Final 2016 HB Stats

Darrell Jordan - 278 carries for 1,176 yards, 4.2 Avg , 14 TD & 33 catches for 307 yards and 2 TD

Kareem Dixon - 80 for 263 yards, 3.3 Avg, 4 TD & 13 catches for 65 yards

John Kuhn - 6 carries for 32 yards

Bishop Sankey - 4 carries for 25 yards

Thoughts - Last year Sankey had over 1,300 rushing yards and still a 1st round pick was used on a HB so it was going to be hard to be better then those numbers. So with a better OL it was a bit disappointing that Jordan didn't do much better then Sankey did. It's obvious that Jordan is a elite talent and he seemed to figure It out mid year. There is no doubt that Jordan is the player the offense will be built around. But still the titans finished top 5 in the NFL in rushing so its hard to complain about that. The titans struggled when they tried to open up the passing game and rely less on the run. One thing that hurt the running game was falling behind early in games and having to pass more then run.

It's been rumored that Dixon could be on the move which would bump Sankey back up the the #2 back. If the passing game can make more plays and not have so many turnovers to get the team behind in games. Also you can expect a upgrade over Carl Nicks at C who is well over 30. Its very possible Jordan can get to 1,500 yards and over 15 TD's next year if those things happen.

2017 Final HB Stats

Darrell Jordan - 326 carries for 1,732 yards, 5.3 Avg, 19 TD & 23 catches for 178 yards

Kareem Dixon - 136 carries for 732 yards, 5.4 Avg, 8 TD

John Kuhn - 6 carries for 32 yards & 9 catches for 79 yards

On maybe the craziest stat in 3 years for px1 this years FB Ryan Hewitt has the same exact carries and yards as last years FB. This years running game played great leading the NFL in rushing yards and having no dropoff when Dixon came into the game. Jordan enjoyed his breakout year leading the NFL in rushing yards and TD's. A lot has been written about Jordan, but one that goes over looked is his stamni that allows him to easily get 20 carries a game and not get tired. More importantly the run game set a culture here in Nashville that you had to be ready when you played the team. It also took the pressure off of a defense that made the change to a 4-3. It is going to be tough to duplicate those stats next year but with all 5 OL and top 2 HB's back it will still be the best in the NFL.

Will Jordan be one of the best HB's in NFL history part 1

Everyone knows the story of Darrell Jordan by now a projected top 10 draft pick that fell all the way to the titans in the 20's in the first draft class by the new owner. He had everything you want in a HB expect for straight line speed.

Now that he is in the middle of his 4th year we figure it was time to do a little projecting to see where Jordan could potentially stack up at the end of his career. We are obligated to say he would need to stay healthy for any of this to happen.

2016 - 74 yards per game
2017 - 108 yards per game
2018 - 101 yards per game
2019 - 124 yards per game (4 games)
So to recap in 52 career regular season games he currenly has 5,031 yards

1. Emmitt Smith - 18.355
2. Walter Payton - 16,726
3. Barry Sanders - 15, 269
4. Curtis Martin - 14,101
5. Adrian Peterson - 13,830
6. Ladinian Tomlinson - 13,684
7. Jerome Bettis - 13, 662
8. Eric Dickerson - 13,259
9. Tony Dorsett - 12,279
10. Jim Brown - 12,312

20th Cory Dillion 11,244
30th Clinton Portis 9,923
40th Willis Mcgahee 8,474
129th place Darrell Jordan 5,031

He is averaging 124 yards per game this season but we expect that total to drop in the remaining 12 games. Lets say that number drops to 100 per game the rest of the way that would put him with 1,700 for the year and 6,231 for his career.

He is now 24 years old and the NFL's best OL isn't going anywhere for the next several years. So he should be able to keep up his current pace barring injuries for 3 more seasons after this one. Lets say he averages 100 per game in that time frame meaning of course 1,600 per year. That would put us going into year 2023 at the age of 28 with 11,031 yards which would put him around 20th all time.

He would then have year 2023 (28), 2024 (29), and 2025 (30) where he will have likely be past his prime but still able to put up good but not great stats. So lets say he gets down to 80 yards per game and that's a pretty high number for this age in madden. That would be 1,280 per year and put his total at 14,871 yards. So even in a best case scenario for rushing he will not be able to catch Emmitt Smith's career record of over 18,000. He does have a chance to crack the top 5 if ownership and the run first mentality of the play calling stays the way it is now.

For comparison sake Adiran Peterson retired at age 33 with 78 speed and still elite in all HB ratings.

Will Jordan be one of the best HB's in NFL history part 2

Now we want to take a look at the other major stat for HB's and that's Rushing TD's. This one is a little easier to do the math on because in 52 career regular season games Jordan has 51 rushing TD's.

2016 - 14
2017 - 19
2018 - 15
2019 - 3 (in 4 games)

TD's
Emmitt Smith 164
Ladainian Tomlinson 145
Marcus Allen 123
Adrian Peterson 114
Walter Payton 110
Jim Brown 106
John Riggins 104
Marshall Falk 100
Shaun Alexander 100
Barry Sanders 99

20th Ricky Waters 78
30th Steve Van Buren 69
40th 3 guys with 65
67th all time Darrell Jordan 51

Lets say in the last 12 games this year he gets 14 TD's so that would put him at 65 at the end of year good for 40th all time.

If he can keep up the pace of 1 TD per game for the next 4 years that means going into the 2024 season at age of 29 he would have 129 career TD's good for 3rd of all time.

That would then put him 35 TD's short of the career mark and at least 3 productive seasons left 2024 (29) 2025 (30) and 2026 (31) Even if is splitting carries by this point he could still rack up some TD's, So that may put him with a chance to break the record if he can keep up his pace these next 4.5 years which is no easy task.

If you want to compare Smith had his 164 TD's in 226 games. LT had his 145 TD's in 170 games. Allen got his 123 TD's in 222 games. So at this pace he is ahead of the pace what we don't know is if he can keep up his pace for example this year the he only has 3 of the teams 7 rushing TD's. Another thing of note if rookie QB Garret Gilbert continues to improve that could lead to less chances for rushing TD's.

Sharing the Wealth
Another thing we want to say is Jordan has never been one to hog all the stats/carries. The "other HB" that was in the same draft class currently has 1,647 career yards and 15 career TD's. Like all of the titans it was a rough year for him in 2016 with 263 yards and 4 TD's.. But In the magical 2017 season he toped out at 732 yards and 8 TD's. Last year he had over 500 yards and this year he is currently on pace for 588. Even the #3 HB Aeron Gray last year had 215 yards and 1 TD and he is on pace to beat that this year.

Jordan runs for 124 yards and scores 2 TD vs the duo of Suh and Gerald McCoy. This earns him the player of the week on daddy leagues not sure about in game.

If your wondering why you are being tagged in this post its not to show off how my HB (ok maybe a little lol) but I want everyone to watch it to show some cool things that you can do if you take some time.

If everyone could take 5 to 10 minutes after the game and save a few great plays it would open up a lot of cool things we can do like this. This is only the 2nd video I have made via the share factory and I think it turned out good despite the fact its really like 3 minutes not 6. You can also add pics to it but I only had 1 of him. If everyone was doing this we could get a weekly top 5 plays countdown and end of the season top 10. Maybe you don't have the time/desire to do it every game. Atleast I would like everyone to know how and be doing for the really great and special plays your team makes. I am now kicking myself for not saving highlight clips after every game for 5 years as I didn't do them for a few years.

Excellent work especially since I know these long videos take time and definitely have their share of growing pains to learn all of the bells and whistles

If someone is doing a one play highlight or blooper it would take 1-2 minutes at most and we definitely need more of those in MLB and Madden ... Maybe then majesty95 coukd string together a weekly or monthly top plays / bloopers of the week / month / season whatevs
