As the season is heating up and conference battles heat up here is how the American conference is shaking up.

The obvious favorites are USF (east) and #25 Cincinnati (west) to play in the conference championship game. The Teams waiting for an opportunity with 2 conference losses are Connecticut, UCF, SMU, Houston and unbelievably Tulane. Everybody else either needs help or is out. More to come.

Cincinnati looses to Tulsa last week putting Tulane in a 3 way tie for first in the West. Tulane travels to Cincinnati this week. There doesn't appear to be any difference in the east.

Kent State had an impressive win over perennial MAC power Northern Illinois but their loss to Arkansas State a few weeks ago is haunting them.
Temple continues to roll along in the MAC's East division with their only loss being an out of conference misstep against Mississippi State.
Arkansas State controls their destiny with the head-to-head win over Kent State. Providing they do not lose each of their remaining games, they should square off against Temple in the MAC Championship.

Mississippi State leads the SEC west and will be looking ahead to a potential showdown with South Carolina. Can a 2 loss SEC Champ make it to the NC game? Stay tuned to find out.

With 2 Conference games to Tulane is in control in the West. USF is still in control in the East. SMU is tied with Tulane but Tulane has the head to head win. SMU is hoping that Navy or Tulsa will beat Tulane and put them into the Conference championship.
