THE CLEVELAND BROWNS ARE PLAYOFF BOUND!
.... At least we hope so. Crazy things have happened in the NFL. I don't think it gets any crazier than the above headline though. For the First time since 2002 the Browns are headed to the Playoffs. The Browns welcomed the 13-2 rival Pittsburgh Steelers into town this week. The Steelers playoff spot has been locked for weeks. They needed a win to lock down home field throughout the playoffs. The Browns needed a win simply to get in. In most likely their final home game of 2015 the Browns sent the fans home happy with a 29-17 victory.
Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers Week 17 Box Score.
At the beginning of the season the question on everybody's mind was Josh McCown or Johnny Manziel. The Browns then delivered the answer that nobody expected. Zach Mettenberger. The QB they had just required a week before the season started. Controversial? Without a doubt. The Browns fans weren't happy at first but now they are the HAPPIEST they have ever been. Zach lead the Browns to 10 wins and a playoff berth. Zach you are our hero.
Regular Season Stats:
198-331 3,049 YARDS 21 TD'S 17 INT 90.0 QBR
The comeback player of the year without a doubt should be Flash Gordon. The man who sat out almost all of last season has bounced back in a huge way this year. He's been un-guardable this season. With Cleveland locking him up for another 4 years look for many more big years from Flash.
Regular Season Stas:
74 REC 1,365 YARDS 11 TD
The Browns also turned heads with the signing of Ray Rice in the off-season. Ray Rice wasn't their only Free Agent acquisition at the running back position. Robert Turbin was the other signing by the Browns. Though he didn't receive much playing time this season due to injury he showed flashes of why he was brought to Cleveland. Ray Rice and Turbin look to become a 1-2 punch in Cleveland for years to come.
Regular Season Stats:
Ray Rice 307 ATTEMPTS 1,401 YARDS 9 TD 23 REC 185 YARDS
Robert Turbin 13 ATT 93 YARDS 1 TD 7 REC 125 YARDS 1 TD
Karlos Dansby had a career year this year. Putting up career highs in tackles and int he was the heart and soul of that Cleveland defense this year. He looks for that ring that has eluded him his entire career.
Regular Season Stats:
Karlos Dansby 121 TACKLES 7 INT
The beginning of the season got off to a puzzling start for the Browns. They traded all pro FS Tashaun Gipson to the Titans and instantly loss some credibility to their secondary. They then signed an unproven rookie off the Steelers practice squad. Gerod Holliman had quite the year. Look for him to be a household name for years to come.
Regular Season Stats:
Gerod Holliman 98 TACKLES 2 SACKS 3 INT
The Cleveland Browns are in the playoffs for the first time in 13 years. The regular season is behind us. A new season starts. It's win or go home. Unfamiliar territory indeed. We here in Cleveland have not experienced this in years. The Browns organization is hungry, the fans are hungry. This opportunity doesn't come knocking that often. You only have one shot. We believe Cleveland... We Believe...
