The Cleveland Browns had quite the task this week. They had a must win game on the road at Century Link Field. If being in the dead center of a playoff battle wasn't hard enough they now had to make the trip out to Seattle an do battle with the LOB lead Seattle Seahawks. That defense lived up to the hype and then some. They were the difference in this one. 5 Takeaways from the Browns. Despite the turnovers the Browns made this a game and got some late magic with a 91 yard touchdown strike to Josh Gordon and then proceeded to recover the onside kick, only to be intercepted on the game tying drive. Another heartbreaking loss.
Week 15 Box score. Despite late magic Cleveland falls short to the Seahawks. With two games left in the season the Playoffs are still a possibility for the Browns.
Zach Mettenberger came to play this week. He took it too the Legion of Boom all game. "The good one's smell fear. Fear isn't in my vocabulary. There is not a defense I fear. If you are afraid, you have already lost." is what Mettenberger had to say after the game. This is a rough one for Zach he did everything in his power to win this game. Completing 21 of 29 passes for 349 yards and a pair of touchdowns. A career day for Zach. We are proud of you Zach and finally proud to have a QB we can rely on.
Seattle's defense kept Ray Rice in check all day. 12 attempts for 32 yards. Both season lows for Rice. The Browns needed to change their game plan and they needed someone to step up. Josh Gordon did just that. Despite being shadowed by Sherman the entire day Josh Gordon found a way to have a huge performance. 7 rec for 197 yards and a touchdown. Dominating performance. His claim has been made. The best Reciever in the league is wearing Brown and Orange.
Danny Shelton stepped up in a big way this week. Quiet for most of the season he made Seattle's offensive lines day a long one. Showing why he will be a star in the near future. Constantly getting pressure on Wilson and clogging up the holes to stop Marshawn. Danny Shelton has arrived. Better late than never ehh?
Tramon Williams was another one who had a game. Locking down his opposition on nearly every play and snagging his 4th int of the season. The defense needs this type of veteran leadership to step up. Especially now that it's crunch time and a playoff spot is on the line.
Two games left. Though the Browns have guaranteed themselves a .500 season for the first time since 2007 they have the chance to tie that 2007 record with two straight wins. They need both wins to safely secure a wild card spot. Just one week after traveling to Century Link they will be on the road yet again. This time they travel to Arrowhead stadium. A stadium that is just as loud as Century Link if not louder. The Browns need to return home with a win. This is our team. This is our time. Just believe.
