Welcome to your 2015 Cincinnati Reds - The boys of summer are here and its time to Play Ball!
Let's review this year's team:

The Rotation
Johnny Cueto leads the charge after finishing runner up in the Cy Young voting in 2014 - Bound and determined to unseat Clayton Kershaw, look for Cueto to push himself to the limits and carry this 5 man rotation into the playoffs

Homer Bailey and Mike Leake look to step up their game this season - More is expected in order to contend with the Cardinals stock of strong arms - If Bailey and Leake can get key wins for the Reds this year, then NL Central could be their's for the taking

Tony Cingrani and Jason Marquis round out the 5 man rotation - Cingrani was once a big time prospect but hasn't been able to replicate his minor league stats in the highest level of baseball - Cingrani will need to decrease the number of walks and home runs this year in order to keep his spot in the starting rotation - Jason Marquis will add some veteran experience in hopes of keeping the Reds competitive every fifth day that he takes the bump ... Marquis has been somewhat injury prone late in his career so he needs to stay healthy and taste success ... the Reds have a few pitching prospects in AAA Louisville waiting to get the call but management would like to get them another year of seasoning

The Pen
Flame throwing southpaw Aroldis Chapman will be called upon to shut down teams as often as possible - The hard throwing lefty has pushed himself into consideration for one of the best Rolaids Relief Men in the game today - Very few can match his top end velocity and even fewer can hit it! Look for a bigger workload for Chapman this year as he will be expected to close out games in the 8th inning just like they did back in the good ol' days of baseball - Sean Marshall will bring his big busty curveball in during setup situations ... outside of those two players the bullpen will be patchwork - Look for the Reds to hit the free agency market of the trade block to strengthen their middle relievers

The Chair Position
Calling the signals from behind the plate will be Devin Mesoraco - Last year Devin finally displayed his power by knotting 25 doubles and 25 home runs - The Reds hope Mesoraco can continue with this trend as he tends to strike out more than they would like ... Look for switch hitting Brayan Pena to push for playing time in a platoon situation if Mesoraco struggles early on

The Infield
The quartet of Joey Votto, Brandon Phillips, Zach Cozart, and Todd Frazier remains the same - A lot of experience and chemistry here that provides a lot of pop in the lineup - Votto will continue to drop bombs and drive in runs while Frazier continues to push Votto for the team statistical leader - Phillips has started to decline recently but is still considered one of the better offensive second basemen in the game - Cozart on the other hand is an offensive liability - His defensive skills allows him to play at the major league level but the team will look to make a trade and bolster the SS position

The Warning Track
Jay Bruce returns to patrol the RF position with his rifle arm - Bruce also carries a big stick and will hit from the 4th and 5th spot in the lineup to help generate some runs - Billy Hamilton brings his world class speed to the CF position yet again - More will be expected from Hamilton in his second season - Batting first in the lineup he will put pressure on all opposing defenses to beat him to the base! Marlon Byrd will platoon with Skip Schumaker in LF - Byrd has a lil more pop but Schumaker is more consistent when it comes to getting on base - Look for the Reds to try and upgrade at this position to get an every day player - They have a few prospects that are just a year or two away from joining Hamilton and Bruce

The offense should put up some big numbers if they can only make contact with the ball - Pitching should keep them close in most games but if they can't get Hamilton on and generate any runs then this could be a long and ugly year for the Cincinnati Reds - The team has a sense of urgency to win this year as their are a lot of expiring contracts and the Reds figure to be in rebuilding mode in 2016 - The NL Central will be a meat grinder this year as the Pirates and Cardinals look to continue their dominance and the Cubbies have called up the farm and added Jon Lester to the team - Should make for a very interesting and very exciting summer of baseball! In closing, its time to get Petey Rose back in baseball ... the movement is real!

Pete Rose: "I'd walk through hell in a gasoline suit to keep playing baseball."
