Chicago Gets Lucky

This week Chicago traveled down to Big D to take on the Cowboys in Primetime on Sunday Night. Everything had the makings for this to be a good game. Fales trying to prove himself in relief for the injured Cutler and Romo and the Cowboys trying to get into the win column for the first time in 2016.

The First Quarter started off slow for both teams. It seemed as if neither offense could anything going at all, exchanging three and outs. The First Quarter would come to a close at a score of 0-0 no team showing a sign of giving in defensively.

The Second Quarter it seemed as if both teams decided to show up and go off in an display of point scoring. Jeremy Langford broke off a 58 yard Touchdown run in the second to the left side to bring the Bears ahead of the Cowboys 7-0 in the second quarter. This didn't last long though as Dallas got the ball back and began to drive. While Dallas was driving Romo attempted to go deep and failed to complete the pass, but good news for Dallas that Boykin on Chicago's side of the ball severely interfered with the receiver bringing the ball into the Redzone. This would result in Ezekiel Elliott scoring on a short Touchdown run. Dan Bailey missed the Extra Point making it 7-6 Chicago. On the ensuing drive David Fales would hit Jeremy Langford on a screen pass for 72 yards and a score making it a 14-6 score in the 1st Half. Yet again Dallas would begin to drive the ball deep into Chicago territory before Tony Romo hits Jason Witten in the end zone to make the score 14-13 with less than a minute to go in the half. In desperation to try and get something before half time Chicago is able to drive to long Field Goal range to attempt a 54 yard FG. Surprisingly Robbie Gould hits the kick and the Bears go into the half up 17-13.

The entire second half until late into the 4th quarter was a defensive battle of interceptions and field position with only Dallas getting a Field Goal, until Dallas drove late in the 4th quarter when Chicago could not muster a 1st Down to keep the clock moving. Dallas gets the ball to the Chicago 1 yard line when a defensive lineman jumps across the line for Encroachment. The game clock should have stopped but for some reason it didn't, I am sure the NFL will look into it so that it does not happen in further games. Upon the clock not stopping Dallas called a timeout and lined up for a FG. Dan Bailey lines up for what should be a chip shot but pushes it wide right as time expires allowing Chicago to sneak out of Dallas with a victory.

New owner Magoon is happy with the result of the game being a win but disgusted in how his team played. Magoon quoted "We couldn't get the ball moving when we needed it most and allowed Dallas to get back into the game. I know we sustained two key injuries on defense but still that doesn't effect our ability to move the ball". That being said Chicago did sustain two huge injuries defensively to Pernell McPhee who suffered a Broken Collarbone and Danny Trevathan who suffered a Upper Arm Fracture. Both players won't see any playing time until at least week 10.

David Fales 12/20 216 yards 1 TD 2 INT
Jeremy Langford 10 carries 80 yards 1 TD
Alshon Jeffery 3 catches 61 yards
