Atlanta, GA --- For the first time in franchise history, the Atlanta Falcons start the season as defending Super Bowl Champions. It was a busy offseason for the Falcons, and while they didn't lose much from last years Super Bowl winning team, they added quite a bit. Pieces like WR Demaryius Thomas, HB Jay Ajayi, and DE Jerry Hughes look to make a big impact in their first seasons with Atlanta.

The offense will once again be one of the best in the league, led by Matt Ryan and the many targets around him. Julio, John Ross III, Demaryius Thomas, Jimmy Graham, Austin Hooper, Pierre Garcon...the list just goes on and on. Tevin Coleman returns as the starting RB, with newcomer Jay Ajayi backing him up, and the McWeapon, Jeremy McNichols, behind them. The offense live has two new starters at guard, with Rookie Sanchez Ballard at LG and the veteran 4 year veteran out of Rutgers, Kaleb Johnson, starting at RG.

Vic Beasley Jr, last year's leading tackler for the Falcons, slides down from OLB to DE. Opposite of Beasley will be Jerry Hughes. Grady Jarrett and Dominque Easley return as the starting DTs. Alex Anzalone and Super Bowl MVP De'Vondre Campbell will start on either side of Pro Bowl MLB Deion Jones. The same 4 players return in the secondary, with Desmond Trufant and Marshon Lattimore locking it down at CB, and Ricardo Allen and Keanu Neal back deep.

The expectations are once again high for this team. As defending Super Bowl Champions, anything but contending for a repeat is out of the question. This team is the favorite to win the NFC South for the 3rd straight season, and one of the favorites, along with the rival Minnesota Vikings, to win the NFC. It should be an interesting season, but can the Falcons repeat?

For all things Atlanta Falcons, stay tuned to the Falcoholic.
